The Consequences of Being Ginger
Rose held the dying Doctor in her arms, tears falling down her face.
"I'm so sorry Doctor," she said. "If I hadn't gotten captured, you wouldn't have been shot."
"Don't worry about it Rose," replied the Doctor, smiling. "I'd do anything to keep you safe. I just hope this next body's as good-looking as this one." Rose laughed and slowly pressed a kiss to the Doctor's forehead. He gave her one last grin, before being engulfed in that now familiar golden light. Before her, his features changed, until he was a completely different man.
The new Doctor opened his eyes and looked around. Rose gulped.
"Doctor?" she said. The Doctor nodded.
"Rose," he said. "Are you okay?"
"Yep," replied Rose. The Doctor smiled.
"So … what do I look like?" he asked. Rose, now over the shock, attempted to hide a grin.
"Doctor, you're um…" she said, "you're ginger." The Doctor's eyes widened.
"Seriously?!" he exclaimed. He looked in the mirror and ran his hands through his hair, which was now a soft orange colour against his pale skin. He grinned and jumped for joy.
"I did it Rose! I became ginger!" he cried. "It took eleven bodies, but it was worth it!" He continued to dance around, full of energy. Suddenly he was interrupted by the TARDIS materialising, which caused him to fall to the floor.
"Never mind, I'm ginger!" he said excitedly as he got up and ran to the scanner. "Where are we now? Oo, Sahara Desert. Come on Rose, let's go!" He made for the door, but Rose stayed where she was.
"Doctor, I don't think you should…" she began, but the Doctor was already out the door. Once outside, he looked up at the sky.
Hmm, it's a tad hot, he thought. Better get a drink bottle. He turned back to the TARDIS and went to open the door. But as he looked down at his hand, he realised with horror that it was now pink. He reached up to feel his face, which felt hotter than ever before.
"Oh no," he said. "I'm sunburnt!" He fumbled with the TARDIS key, before finally making it back inside. Rose was standing there grinning, a wide-brimmed hat and a bottle of sunscreen in her hands.
"Meet your new best friends Doctor," she said.

"What's the point of being ginger if you've got to wear a hat all the time?" grumbled the Doctor as he and Rose got back from yet another adventure.
"What can I say? Be careful what you wish for," said Rose.
