TWO OLD FOOLS

"What supposed to be that?" Mrs. Patmore whispered to Mrs. Hughes the moment she sat in the sand by side the cook chair in the beach. Daisy who was sit next, just looked away and pretend not heard the whisper.

"Supposed what?" the housekeeper was confuse.

Still whispering Mrs. Patmore said, "You and Mr. Carson…" She paused and looked to the butler who stayed in the water's edge. "...Holding hands."

Mr. Hughes looked to Mr. Carson then to Mrs. Patmore again. "Oh that?" With a smile, she continued. "Just steady him."

"Steady?"

"Yes, Mrs. Patmore. He was afraid to fall."

"It didn't seems to me!"

By this time, no one was still whispering and Daisy was totally paying attention to the talk.

"And what's seems to you, Mrs. Patmore?" She was discomfort about it. The holding hands means much more to her than just steady him. Means a first time she could feel the heat of his hand without a sad moment for that had to happen. The holding hands to support each other. This time, Mrs. Hughes could feel his heart, his happiness. She could see he smile and relax by her side. When they were in the ocean, they briefly looked in the eyes. Eyes who told more things than a thousand words.

"You really wanna know what's seems to me?" Mrs. Hughes agreed with the head allowing her friend to speak freely. "Seems two old fools pretending to not love each other for years".

Mrs. Patmore smiled proudly knowing she told the truth. Daisy got a bit surprise. Looking to Mrs. Hughes amazement, she saw how the housekeeper looked thoughtful direct to Mr. Carson. Elsie Hughes didn't believe that was so clear the love she feel to that man. He looked over his shoulder at her and smiled. Yes, he loved her. Still a long walk they were going to have till the happiness. However, the wait would be rewarding for both. Mrs. Hughes nodded to Mr. Carson and turned to her friend. Only with the eyes, Elsie said to the cook she was absolutely right. Two old fools.
