Chapter 1

(A/N: May tweak a couple bits of Koizumi's family past.)

'Listen…Koizumi,' Otani mumbled while staring at the floor.

'Yeah?' I replied unsurely.

'I…I'mgoingtoAmericatostudyforthreeyears!' He shouted with speed.

'What?'

He breaths a calming breath, 'I'm going to America to study for three years.'

'WHAT?!' Otani covered his ears from my loud shout. He uncovers them and speaks:

'Look, I know it's shocking and not the most ideal time,' Otani tries to reason, but I'm not having it.

'Ideal?! This is definitely NOT the most ideal time. Does this ring on my finger mean nothing to you?' I held my hand up.

'It means everything to me!'

'Really Otani? Does it? If it did you wouldn't be going to America. I mean you only just proposed to me a couple weeks ago and you're already leaving. Is commitment that hard for you?!'

'No! Commitment isn't hard. But if you're loyal, then—'

'What? Now you're assuming that I might be disloyal to you? I don't know if you noticed, but you're the one leaving me.'

'Don't say "leaving" like I'm breaking up with you!'

'If you're leaving for three years then you might as well be!'

I threw my hands over my mouth and Otani just stood there, absolutely shocked. My hands dropped from my mouth, cause believe me, I wasn't done yet.

'Otani. You know, that my family has had bad relationships in the past. You know that the women in my family have always chosen bad men. My whole family; even my mother, who had the worst relationship of all. Thought you were the right man for me, that you could turn our lives around and make them all happy. But I guess—' My hand went towards the ring.

'Koizumi, don't do it.'

'We were all WRONG!' I pulled the ring off and Otani fell to his knees. 'Thanks for taking my happiness and throwing it into the dust. Good Bye Otani,'

'Koizumi, no.'

'Have fun in America.' I left but not before I heard:

'RISA!'

He only calls me that when he's desperate. I got in my car and drove away. Drove away from the person I loved since high school. Drove away from the man I loved so much. Leaving Atsushi Otani behind me.

2 YEARS AND 11 MONTHS LATER

'Everyone! Be quiet! She's waking up!'

My eyes slowly flutter open. I looked around. 'Where…am I?'

'You're in the hospital Sweety.' I looked to the person who just spoke, it took me a while to register who it was.

'M-mum?'

'Hmm, just as I thought.' A man in a white lab coat, who I assume is the Doctor, spoke. 'Miss Koizumi might have a slight case of amnesia. It won't be as serious as that she's forgotten everything. She'll only have forgotten some things.'

'What things?' A girl with hazelnut hair and eyes asks. She's N-Nobu?

'Nobu?'

'Yup,' she smiles at me.

'Well,' the Doctor continues. 'The memories will include anything she feels anger, hatred, betrayal or sadness toward.'

Nobu mumbles something that I didn't catch but she goes straight back to smiling. 'Well at least she's alive, right?'

'Yeah!' They nod.

'She can stay with me.' Nobu comments. 'I was going to have the whole gang come over for a reunion!' Nobu smiles. 'Is that okay?'

'Sure.'
