I don't own kingdom hearts, square enix owns it.

A Drabble… the scene popped into my head.

A Riku-Sora

Christmas lights

The only thing illuminating the basement were a cable of Christmas lights placed around the top boarder of the room. The sound of the snow falling outside drifted throughout the room softly. The dim multicolored lights shined onto a tan male body shining with sweat. The boy looked up toward the stairs, waiting. He stood, half leaning, against a vertical 5inch silver pole. Above his head, his wrists were cuffed together on the opposite site of the pole. The circumstances allowed no room for escape. He could do nothing but wait.

His dark blue eyes glimmered as the basement door opened and his silver haired friend came inside down the stairs. "Looks like we're snowed in, guess we're alone for the night." Riku's eyed his captive hungrily.

The boy cuffed to the pole glared. Somehow Riku had gotten him down here, and placed him against the cold, oddly placed pole. What the hell was going on? He hadn't expected his Christmas Eve to turn out like this.

Riku walked over to his angry captive. His were eyes soft, trying to show that he wasn't going to try anything. "Sora…" Riku began to stroke the other's cheek, slowly and softly. "…I…" he had nothing to say. Riku wasn't sorry, but he didn't want the brunette unhappy. That hadn't been the plan at all. Sora began to sob.

"It's okay. Calm down," Riku whispered, kissing Sora's cheek. He brought one of his hands to the cuffs, unlocking them.

But even after they were removed, the tan body continued to sob uncontrollably. "R-Riku…" Hurt filled blue eyes looked up at Riku. Sora's pain pierced right through him. Now he was sorry.

Riku hugged his friend, keeping him steady, mumbling sorrys into the person he loves ear. Who knows how long the both of them stood there, both hurt in their own ways. Eventually the sobbing died down. Sora looked up again. Riku stopped apologizing, giving Sora his attention.

This time, the blue eyes were cautious. "Riku…w-why did you do this?" he asked quietly. Almost as if he was asking himself.

Riku hesitated, but answered after a moment or two. "I just, I wanted you all to myself. I want you Sora. More than I should… I'm sorry-" Sora put a finger to his lips, to keep him from unleashing another storm of apologies.

"I know you are." Sora gave a small smile, pressing his lips to Riku's for a moment, before pulling back.

"I love you." Riku leaned down kissed Sora before he could move away completely. Although it wasn't either's first, it felt like they had both been waiting so long for this moment. So long to feel their lips and bodies against each other, to hear each other's heartbeats, to know the feelings of want and love between the two was mutual, and not one-sided.

It had been nothing like the brunette had expected that Christmas Eve, but the fear he'd felt in the beginning had been worth it. Just hearing those three beautiful words come from Riku's lips had been enough to make it all worth it. Sora had been waiting to hear those words for a long time.

When they finally broke apart, Sora smiled his big toothy smile and said panting, "I love you too."

The nights memories never left. Even as years passed, Riku never forgot how cold it had been, or how scared and angry Sora had been in the beginning. Never forgot the way Sora had sobbed, or the way Sora smiled, eyes sparkling, as he said he loved him too. And Riku will never forget how good his Sora looked glistening in the colors of the Christmas lights.
