Okay guys, this is my first ever fan fic. Comments and reviews are love. Don't be afraid to be harsh either. Plus, leave me notes to decide whether the story should continue or not. To avoid confusion, flashbacks are in italics.
'Audrey, you all right?'
Nathan's voice snaps Audrey out of her daze, and she opens her eyes to the ceiling of the haven police department.
'Audrey, answer me. Are you all right? I just found you on the floor in here. What are you doing?'
Audrey attempts to sit up with the helping hand of Nathan, her mind full of swirling images of Lucy and the Colorado kid. She closes her eyes again, trying to dub the pain of her pounding head.
'I—I'm fine. Just tripped is all.'
Nathans face tightens a bit, recognizing her lie, but doesn't say anything about it. He pulls her to her feet and steady's her. The sudden movement makes Audrey's head spin and her vision blur. The thudding in her head pounds even harder. Audrey tries to suppress a groan, but one escapes her anyway.
'Right,' Nathan says, eyebrows furrowing at her discomfort. 'You fell, which explains why your nose is bleeding.'
Audrey lifts a heavy hand to her nose and sighs. Her hand comes away sticky with blood. Nathan guides her unsteadily to the couch and lowers her down.
'Thanks.' Audrey sighed as Nathan took a seat next to her. His eyes meet hers for a moment, then her eyelids flutter shut and the world slips away as she blacks out.
'He's beautiful.'
'I know. Our baby boy.'
'What are you going to name him?'
Sarah looks to the man standing above her and smiles.
'James. His name is James.'
'Audrey, please! Audrey, wake up!'
Audrey's eyes snap open and she jolts upward. The movement makes her vision darken, and her head falls back down.
'Oh, thank god. I called your name but- but you wouldn't wake up. Audrey, what's going on? We were just talking and you passed out.' He talked rather quickly, and Audrey struggled to keep up as her mind ran in circles. She closed her eyes again, trying to get a grip on the present as her brain kept sliding to the past.
'There's something I haven't been telling you Nathan. I- I've been having flashbacks. Just- just give me a second, okay?' She rubbed her temples, trying to sooth an oncoming migraine.
'Right, right, I'm sorry.' All traces of Nathan's suspicion disappeared as worry took over his features, his mouth turning slightly down. He took her arms and pulled her up, trying to be gentle. A spasm of pain rips through her body and she nearly passes out again, falling against Nathan.
'Whoa, Parker. We need to get you to a hospital. You're bleeding again. '
'No, no. I'm okay, Nathan. I just need to lie down. And possibly a Kleenex.'
He steers her back towards the couch she had just fallen from and settles her down, handing her a box of tissues.
'Thanks.' Audrey mumbled, wiping her bleeding nose.
'Wait here a second. I'm going to go grab Claire.' Audrey begins to protest, but Nathan cuts her off and leaves the room. Audrey sighs. The last thing she wants right now is to get her therapist involved. Claire already knew about Audrey's current condition. The only reason Audrey didn't want Claire to get involved is because she didn't want Nathan involved. When she disappears, she doesn't want to drag him down with her.
