Wanderlust - the irresistible, incurable desire to travel or wander
Draco Malfoy on traveling and fate.
Restless.
Draco Malfoy was restless, bored, and he knew from experience that restless just wouldn't do.
Restless is what impregnates your one-night stand. Honor, pride, and blackmail will have you unhappily married before you can say "sorry."
Restless is what makes your wife cheat on you, prompting a quick, ugly divorce that will leave her without a cent, and you with weekend custody of your 3 year old son.
Restless is what drives you to insanity, and eventually suicide in Azkaban.
Restless is what gives you the incurable hunger for power, immortality, and/or world domination, which then prompts you to cause two wars and kill a bunch of people.
No, restlessness was dangerous. He needed a hobby.
"Go on holiday," Goyle suggested, and for once, he wasn't a complete and utter idiot.
Draco could go on holiday.
Maybe he just wouldn't come home.
He'd always wanted to travel.
He would go slow, like the Muggles, instead of Apparating everywhere. That was part of the experience. He'd soak up the sun, and maybe get a few foreign diseases.
Wander the world, guided only by curiosity and his purse - yes, that's what he would do.
Mother laughed when he told her. "You hate traveling, dear."
"I do not!" he insisted. "You and Father just never took me anywhere!"
"Draco, love, you used to throw a tantrum when I asked you to join me in the gardens."
"That was the gardens. That's not traveling. I've always wanted to travel. Father just despised the Muggles, so we never went!"
"What ever you say, dear. Have a nice time."
I will, thanks.
"How will you get on without the house elves to dress you?" Pansy smirked.
"I can dress myself, thank you very much."
"There will be Muggles," she warned.
"Yes, I'm aware." Honestly.
He wanted to travel.
Imagine: new people, new sights, new tastes.
Excitement. Adventure.
Copenhaggen, Paris, Amsterdam, Tokyo. He'd see big cities and small villages, warm beaches and snow up to his waist. He'd ride a camel to the pyramids, maybe go on a safari. He'd try sushi - and visit hundreds of chocolate factories.
Spices, Arabian music, belly dancing.
Then to America - Las Vegas, New York, the state with all the lakes, and the one from the western movies. He'd swim with dolphins and visit the place they made movies.
He'd stand atop a mountain and feel both insignificant and awed as he looked at the world from above. Maybe he'd bring his broom and fly down...
He would visit monks and learn ancient wisdom, maybe fast for a day or an hour.
He'd travel to the ends of the earth, if only to prove that it was indeed round.
.
.
But first, he'd see the dragons in Romania, and if a certain Hermione Granger happened to be there on holiday at the same time...
Well, that was just the hands of fate.
Maybe he could get Pansy to forward him Hermione's schedule.
So, this was perfect at about 250 words, but the minimum was 500. So, what do you think? Still nice?
