Watson packed the last few journals into the box. Bending down to check the lowers shelf he smiled as he saw his old rugby ball tucked behind some of Holmes' books. He pulled it out carefully so as not to disturb the unsteady pile and tossed it from hand to hand. Holmes walked in then, pausing as he saw the doctor.

"So you found it then," He shifted his eyes away from his friend's and he continued his way across the room. Watson tilted his head to the side, his eyes narrowing slightly as he observed the detective.

"Did you hide it there?"

"What point would there be I that?" Watson's suspicions were confirmed as Holmes didn't raise his head but instead continued to study the newspaper he had just picked up. After years of living with the man, Watson knew that the detective disliked directly lying to him and instead had taken to giving answers that didn't really answer anything at all.

"Why did you hide it?"

"I never said I did."

"Why, Holmes?" The detective shrugged his shoulders slightly and furrowed his brow so it appeared he was concentrating harder on his reading. The doctor frowned and, putting the ball aside, approached his friend. He placed and hand on Holmes' shoulder forcing him to look up.

"Why did you hide the rugby ball from me?" His blue eyes stared steadily at Holmes' who still appeared uncharacteristically uncomfortable.

"It reminds me of you." His mouth twitched in a smile for a moment before he hastily looked back down at the paper. Watson sighed, knowing that was all he was going to say. He returned to the box he was packing and placed the rugby ball in it. He picked it up and walked to the door for the last time. Sherlock sat in his chair silently, eyes fixed on the ground. He gathered his courage and quietly spoke.

"Don't leave me."

Watson dropped the box to the ground with a dull thud and crossed the room quickly wrapping his arms firmly around Holmes and pulling his friend into a hug. Pulling him in closer he spoke softly into the detective's ear.

"My dear Holmes, you only had to ask."
