I do not own neither Bleach nor Byakuya... Much as I want to *cough*.

Byakuya, contrary to what most people, for some strange reason, thought, was actually a very caring and nurturing person, who took immensely good care of his squad members when they forgot to do so, which did occur rather often.

He had, for example, once had a third seat (too bad she had to transfer, he had rather liked her) who never drank anything in work hours. Not water, not tea, not milk. Not even sake! It hadn't taken long for Byakuya to find this out, so he asked what caused her to drink so very little. She had merely answered that she was not thirsty and, even if she was, had better things to do than constantly fetching drinks (such as doing the part of the paperwork which did not need a signature from the rather lazy lieutenant). He had ordered her to fetch to cups of tea a little later and had, over said cups of tea, discussed ways of improving the squad's economy, which made her drink something without being a waste of time.

There were many other such examples, the most remarkable being how he would always have food (candy) for Yachiru, who was in truth a little underfed, and how he would always do his utmost to make sure Rukia was safe. No one hurt his younger sister, whether it be emotionally or physically, and lived to tell the tale for long.

Another one most people would notice, was the way Hisana had entered the Kuciki-household: by collapsing pathetically in front of it and being brought into an empty room upon the lord's orders. It had taken the days before the woman actually met her saviour, but only mere minutes for the two to fall in mutual love. The servants knew even more examples, as they often saw their stoic lord bring wounded or starved into the house (and especially noticed when they had to clean after said pets). Also because he, personally when he were at home, fed Rukia's two beloved rabbits when she wasn't at home or heavily wounded.

So many examples of the Kuchiki-lord's caring nature. The most recent and blatantly obvious, however, was currently sitting in his lap, watching as he signed form anfter form, about a quarter of which should have been done by Renji.

"Uncle Byakuya?" the small girl asked, staring iintently at a kanji. "Who destroyed the training hall? He's probably quite the idiot."

The sixth squad Captain looked surprised down at the small girl before actually chuckling softly. "He is indeed, and he's being punished for his idiocy."

"Due punishment?" big, green-violet eyes blinked up at him. "Not too much?"

"No, nor too little."

"Good!" the girl declared, returning her intent gaze to the paper, not knowing she had just been the cause of something akin to a miracle.

O.O Reluctant as I am to end it here, I can't think of what else to write. I had originally not intended for the little girl to be part of this one-shot, but she came skipping into the fic.
I hope you enjoyed nonetheless. If you liked the girl (or would like to know more about her), I migh make a fic with her in it.

Kindly review. ^_^
