A Blossoming Chance

"Welcome to-a Rose Central, how may I-a help you?" Alice asked as a tall, blonde man walked into the small flower shop.

"Where are your sunflowers?" He questioned.

"Along the-a back wall, and here's a little something you-a might want to know. The sunflowers are on-a sale right now. If you-a buy a dozen, you'll-a get a ribbon and a crystal vase for-a free!" She beamed.

"That's a pretty good deal, da. I'll remember that." He walked away from the counter.

Alice sighed. Those sunflowers were probably for his lover, or maybe someone close to him.

It was Valentine's Day after all. However, she would celebrate this one alone..just as she year...and the year before that...and every other year before then.

There was nothing wrong with not having a lover. It was just, she was ready for the change. And right now, there was one person in particular she had her sights set on.

The chef that worked at the restaurant across the street. His name, Feliciano Vargas. He was kind, sweet, and so very handsome.

Just the thought of him made her blush as red as tomato sauce. Unfortunately, he happened to be standing right in front of her, alarmed.

"Bella, are-a you alright?" He panicked.

"Um, yeah. I'm-a fine. No need to worry about-a me!"

By then, she was blushing up a storm. When had he walked in anyway?! And where had that customer gone?

At least one of her questions was answered when an assorted bouquet of sunflowers appeared on the counter.

"Miss, I'm ready to check out," the man smiled.

"Oh. Of course. I'm-a sorry for the wait."

He nodded and put the bouquet on the counter.

She tied the ribbon around the flowers, put water in a blue vase, and put the flowers in it.

"There-a you go," She beamed.

He smiled and thanked her. She turned and noticed Feliciano still sitting in one of the chairs. The blush slowly returned to her face.

"Bella, would-a you like-a to-a go on a date with me?"

"Feliciano, of-a course I would!" She beamed.

"Is-a tonight good?" He was anxious."

"Yes, tonight would-a be great."

"Cool. I'll-a pick you up at-a seven."

He exited the shop with a huge smile on his face. Alice blushed as she turned to help a customer that had walked in.

She continued to smile all day, waiting on the chance that had blossomed.
