"Look at that one!"
Cloud turned his head in the direction the flower girl had pointed, searching the sky for the shape she had seen in the heavens. However, he soon gave up and ended up looking at her instead. He always ended up distracted like this whenever she was near.
"It looks like a love heart doesn't it?" she whispered softly, turning her head to meet his gaze. Instantly, he looked away, moving his eyes to where she had pointed again, pretending he had been looking there all along.
"Yeah, it does," he replied, though he couldn't actually see it at all. Beside him, Aeris smiled softly and gently shook her head though she knew he couldn't see her. After a moment of watching him search the sky, she leaned in closer, her breath tickling his ear.
"There wasn't a love heart Cloud," she giggled. He glanced at her, blushing a little.
"I knew that," he answered in defense. She raised an eyebrow, her smile widening.
"Really?" she asked teasingly. He frowned, trying to seem as if he was annoyed. It lasted less than five seconds, which was the longest he ever could stay angry at Aerith. He slowly shook his head, giving a slight chuckle. She laughed too, snuggling up beside him and letting her head rest on his chest. She closed her eyes at the sound of his heartbeat, the sound relaxing her instantly.
"Cloud?" she said softly.
"Yeah?" he asked, yawning a little and shifting beneath her. She was silent for a momene before she gave a soft sigh, three words escaping with it.
"I love you."
He blinked in shock, glancing down at her form, which hadn't moved at all. He wasn't sure what he had expected her to say but it wasn't that! She slowly raised her head, her eyes showing fear for exposing her feelings. Cloud watched as one tear escaped and quickly caught it with his thumb, staring into her vivid stare the whole time.
"I love you too," he whispered, leaning in to brush his lips gently against hers. It was simple and chaste and Cloud knew that kissing under the stars was clichéd, but he didn't care. All that mattered was that being alone with Aeris felt like heaven.
