Thoughts and Choices

Rogue laughed lightly and took another sip from the wine glass set in front of her. In her other hand she held a beautiful red rose. Remy had given it to her before they set out for dinner. She gazed at him lovingly and he smiled charmingly across from her as soft music played in the background. They were in a fancy restaurant. This was one of the few occasions when they could escape the mansion and its stresses. She had accepted Remy's offer to take her out because she felt she needed a break. She had been very stressed lately; her powers had been making her depressed. She felt the need to connect with someone, to have a conversation without constantly worrying. The second Remy asked she knew this was a chance at having a carefree night. She looked up at Remy and knew she had made the right choice. He made her feel so comfortable with herself. "So chere, how are y'enjoyin' dis night so far?" he asked. "It's great sugah, I'm having the time of my life." "Bien." He smiled. She returned his smile as she heard one of her favorite songs come on. "Oh I love this song," she said. "Well den, chere, shall we dance?" Remy stood and offered her an arm. She beamed and he whisked her out to the dance floor. He was a marvelous dancer and led her through many steps. They danced song after song. She lost herself in his bewitching eyes and started feeling the effects of the wine. Remy sensed this and walked her back to her seat. After they were both seated he took her gloved hand in his. "Chere, I really had a great time t'night. I hope you did too." "I did, Remy. Thank ya… I really needed this." "I'm glad, cherie." He lifted her hand and kissed it gently.

YYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY

Rogue looked out her window and sighed. She was thinking very hard about her relationship with Remy. She picked up the red rose he had given her the previous night. She gazed at it and wondered. Why did she run from a relationship with him? She knew deep inside, that she was afraid. Afraid of her love for him. That one day she would carelessly touch him and send him into a coma. She loved him, but was it worth the risk? But then again, she thought, where was she ever going to find another guy who would love her if he knew he couldn't touch her? "Remy is one in a million," she said to herself, touching the silky petals of the rose. She thought blankly, letting her mind drift. Then everything suddenly made sense. Remy loved her. He loved her even though she had rejected him time and time again. But more importantly, he loved her even though he knew he might never be able to touch her. They could never have a normal relationship. "Normal," she laughed, "Since when are mutants' lives normal?" But she was still thinking of Remy. So he loved her. Well, did she love him? Yes. She realized, yes. Her mouth dropped slightly as she grasped the extent of her love. She ran out of the room, dropping the rose on the windowsill. She ran to Remy's room and knocked on the door. Remy opened the door only to have Rogue fling her arms around his neck and start sobbing. Sensing the importance of the moment, he said nothing and hugged her back.
