My eyes flicker open to the reality laid out in front of me. What I saw was far different from before I placed the contacts in my eyes.

Ever since I befriended Bubba I realized that we both saw different. Far different. The Mushroom War burnt down everything in the Candy Kingdom; yet even though nothing was ever rebuilt, everyone seemed jolly, like they were in a dream. Then I got my hands on the thing that made people visualize the perfection know as the Candy Kingdom, The Unknown Contacts.

I dodged the burning wood, striding over it as the smoke raised around my hovering form. All these people look so happy; being social, meeting their friends, exchanging gifts ready for the festivities. The leftovers from the Mushroom war that occurred over 90 years ago still sat there, silently decaying and burning away. I just didn't get it. I glanced around and saw Bubba emerging out from the burnt down castle, I went toward him. "Hey Marshall!" He shouted as I got into his vision. I nodded in a greeting gesture and arrived 50 centimeters away from him. His jolly face sickened me and I could have slapped him when he said "Lovely day today, just look at the amazing views!" But I ignored it, I had learnt to live with it for the past 90 years.

Gumball pulled me aside and into the decayed castle. He took some clear film out of his eyes, contacts. He looked around him and told me what he saw, the exact same as me. But I was still confused at as why he was always so happy, why everyone was still happy. He then pushed the contacts under my nose, I took them and placed then in my eyes. Suddenly everything changed, the world as I had lived with is now replaced with a beautiful scenery of Candy houses, rainbows. It all made me happy. Wow. I walked around touching everything, I touched the grass, running my hands over it. I kept my hand on the grass as my other took out the contacts. I was surprised when I looked back to my hand which was still touching the soft grass, yet this time it was touching the burning remains of the grass. So the contacts only tricked the eyes, everything else you touched, tasted, heard and smell was from the horrible reality. It all made so much sense.

I turned to Gumball. "Why didn't you tel-" My sentence was cut short when I looked upto his tear stained face. "I couldn't Marshall..." He breathed in, more tears rolling down his cheek "...I couldn't ruin everything for everyone, everyone seems to have a perfect life without worries. I didn't want to ruin it for them. Even if it hurts me instead." I looked at him, he was looking at the char-coaled floor. I passed him the contacts back, he took them and rubbed them into the floor. Looking at him with surprise, he shook his head "I want to stay with you in your world Marshall.". My eyes widened as I looked at his tearful face. "I love you Marshall lee" He lent towards my face, his lips slightly puckered. I meet him halfway and we kissed, it only lasting 10 seconds, but I really felt something. "Bubba, I want to live in your world with all these wonderful people, lets go get some of those contacts. You never know, it might make you look normal." I laughed and he playfully punched my shoulder, a small smile forming on his lips.
