A true sacrifice
The day after Cameron left House stormed around the hospital. He was cruder to the nurses, deliberately stepped on Wilson's toe with his cane, argued with the boys and made a ruckus in conference room attempting to make coffee. But the clincher was when Cuddy came to his office.
The shades were down, in hopes of making people think he wasn't there. He had his headphones turned up all the way in hopes of blocking out any and all noise. He saw her enter, but didn't acknowledge her presence. He knew that she was probably shouting his name, but he didn't look up to see. Finally, she threw the over sized tennis ball at his head.
His head snapped up and he tore the right ear piece of his Ipod out of his ear. "What?" he yelled loudly.
Cuddy took a half step back. She had seen him mad before, but this was beyond anything she had ever seen. "What're you doing?" she snapped, trying to regain some control of the situation.
"What does it look like I'm doing?" he growled, obviously annoyed by her.
"I need you in the clinic," she said. House simply put his ear piece back in. "House!"
"What!?"
"I said,"
"I heard you! I'm a cripple, not deaf!" He snapped, turning off his Ipod. "You can throw a fit all you want, but I'm gonna be a bastard and stay in my office."
Cuddy gave a sigh as the door behind her opened and Foreman walked in.
"Hey, lab results came back." Foreman said handing the papers to House.
"It's lupus," House said, tossing the papers onto his desk. "Go tell the kid he won't die today."
"It can't be lupus!" Foreman said. "His antibodies are low, if it was lupus, they'd be off the charts!"
"If you're going to disagree with me, I'd rather you do it while you're working on the patient," House snapped, digging for his vicodin.
"This is when it's nice to have an immunologist," Foreman muttered.
"Well we don't!" House yelled. "So you're gonna have to figure it out a way to do it with out her!" He stood up, his eyes glaring at Foreman. "That or go to her apartment and beg her to come back. Oh wait, I've already tried that!" He growled. Foreman stood there with a shocked look on his face. "Now get out of my office,"
Cuddy watched Foreman retreat before turning to House. "So this is why you're in a foul mood? Because you had to fire somebody? I thought you hated Cameron?"
"I don't hate her," House muttered. "And I didn't fire her."
"But you told Volger,"
"I lied!" House yelled to Cuddy. "When will you people believe me when I say 'everybody lies'?"
"Then what happened?"
"She came to my house, told me she was leaving." House looked at the ceiling before turning his gaze to Cuddy. "She sacrificed herself," He made a face, showing that he clearly did not agree with her action.
Cuddy nodded. "I expect your clinic hours for today to be made up this week."
"You're not gonna force me to go down there?" He asked surprised.
"I'd rather you not kill your patients with your rage." She said and started to make her way to the door. "And House," He looked up at her as she stood with her hand on the handle of the glass door. "She didn't leave because of you," she whispered. "She left for you." House simply stared at her as she exited his office, her heels making quick clicks on the tile.
