So, here's another one of the Challenge ficlets. I hope you like it, too. Don't panic, I am still working on that longer fic - I've not forgotten you're all waiting for a proper story from me. And I do apologise for keeping you waiting for so long. My muse has been very fickle of late, but I think it might be back now. So, sit tight and I'll do my best to get it ready for posting asap.

On a distant planet....

"Jack?"

"Hey, guess who's back in the land of the conscious."

"Ouch!"

Jack winced in sympathy and lowered his voice.

"Headache?"

"Ya think?"

"Hey, quit stealing my lines!"

Jack moved over to let Sam kneel down next to her patient.

"Daniel... how're you feeling?"

"Sam?" Daniel squinted, trying hard not to open his eyes to the bright light of day.

"Yeah, it's me. You had us all worried there for a while, Daniel."

"Huh? Why...? What...?" he stumbled and stuttered, still not thinking straight.

"You don't remember what happened?" Sam gasped, wondering if he'd suffered any brain damage as well as sporting the biggest goose egg she'd ever seen on the top of her friend's head.

"Uh...no?"

"Teal'c's gone for help, he should be back soon." Jack sighed with a sad shake of his head. He squatted down beside his young friend again and then placed his hand on Daniel's shoulder.

"Daniel...."

"Hmmm? What?"

"Bricks?" Jack said in the hope of making Daniel recall the incident.

He'd turned away for only a short moment before there was a yell and he swung around to see that Daniel getting buried under a pile of bricks that had once been a red brick wall of some temple or whatever. Of course, the kid had been knocked unconscious, but Jack was now satisfied that he'd probably suffered nothing more than a concussion and multiple bruising.

"Don't remember? Bricks...? Oh! There was a loose red brick..."

"Yes! Oh! That wall, Daniel. A wall made of those funny little bright red bricks."

"What happened?"

With a sigh, Jack replied, "Didn't your folks or foster parents ever tell you 'never' to remove a loose brick, or whatever, from the bottom of the pile first?"
