Author's Note: I don't own Avatar: The last Airbender. I wish I did, that would be cool.
It had been five years. Five years into the era of peace he had sworn to help this world gain. So many things had changed, himself included. He, the exiled prince, now Firelord over the Fire Nation.
Five years ago today, Aang had taken down his father, the previous Firelord. And for five years, the world had been celebrating the death of his father and sister.
After finally proving his worth, and true nature to the Avatar, he became the Firelord, but for the first few years his uncle, Iroh, had been the one truly ruling the Fire Nation. For he had not been ready, there was much to sort out inside himself. Recently, he had taken over full responsibilities.
He glanced down at a card from the Southern Water Tribe. So, Aang and Katara are finally getting married. He smiled sadly. After he had left the Fire Nation to join the Avatar, Mai had not forgiven him. He had not seen her since the night he took down Azula. Even if he saw her now, there was too much bitterness between them to patch things up.
"Firelord Zuko?" A servant had walked into the room, disturbing his thoughts. Zuko breathed deeply, trying not to let his annoyance show.
"Yes, Long?"
"There is someone here to see you,"
"Can't it wait? This is not the best time,"
"We tried to tell him... er… her…that,"
"You can't tell if the person is a male or female?" He laughed at Long's shocked indignation. He always took things a little seriously.
"No! The person in question is wearing a long clock with a deep hood! Whoever the person may be, will not take of the hood!" Long's face grew flustered at the memory.
"Why did you force it off? What about the guards?" This person had caught Zuko's interest.
Long turned red. "Well, the stranger is rather good at firebending… None of the guards could come close enough to take it off. Meanwhile, the whole time, he or she insists with speaking to you."
Curiosity had won over his annoyance. "Well, let whoever it is in," Long bowed, at strode through the doors. He turned back to his papers. A few minutes later, he noticed a soft jingling sound. It sounded so familiar... It couldn't be…
The rustling nose of a cloak falling, and he was tempted to look up, but didn't. It couldn't be her. Then, she spoke for the first time.
"Why, hello Lee,"
In that instant, he knew it was her. Amber eyes glance up, and met green. The one person he never expected to see again, was standing before him.
It was Moriko.
