Better than make believe

This is a birhday fic for Shadowed93 :) Hope you like it! Sorry it's so short :)

Remus was lying on his bed, reading a book he had received for Christmas a few days ago. The holidays were drawing to a close, students were enjoying the last days of freedom before everyone else arrived and lessons begun again. He could hear Sirius' bark of a laugh drifting up from the common room. He closed his book, unable to concentrate with the noise below. Sighing, he sat up, his feet dangling over the end of his bed. He felt disorientated for a brief moment, wondering why the dorm was empty of trunks and James' usual mess strewn over the floor, before remembering it was the holidays and the other two marauders were still at home.

"Finished the book already?"

Remus jumped, not having heard Sirius come up the stairs and enter the room.

"Almost. Thanks again for it," Remus said grinning, turning to face Sirius. He jumped a little on noticing how close he was standing, feeling his cheeks going pink. The book slipped through his grasp and hit the floor with a quiet thunk. Making to stand up, Sirius muttered an 'allow me,' before picking up the book and placing it back in Remus' hands. Remus blushed a little deeper at the feel of Sirius' hands on his own, and swore they lingered there a few seconds longer than necessary. Feeling himself grow more and more red, he realised he had to leave, or Sirius will notice. He couldn't stay here now, he had already acted so flustered, and he couldn't risk the older boy finding out about his little crush.

He stood up, meaning to leave.

"Where are you going?" Sirius asked, putting his hand on Remus' shoulder to stop him.

"Li-library," he stuttered, brushing off Sirius' hand. He walked past him, ignoring every cell in his body screaming at him to stop and stay.

"Wait!" Sirius called, spinning around to grab Remus's arm.

"What do -" Remus begun, stopping when he found himself face to face with Sirius. Their eyes met. Remus was hyper aware of how close they were, he longed to reach out and touch him, torn between desire and disgust, shyness and recklessness. Sirius' hand left his arm and found Remus' cheek. They stared at each other for an indefinable length of time, Remus not daring to believe his eyes. Then, Sirius fingers snaked down to his chin; he titled it up, leaning in and pressing his lips against Remus', who seemed frozen in shock. Sirius was about to pull back, worried he had overstepped the line, when Remus responded, pressing his lips back timidly. Remus closed his eyes, sighing into the kiss. He didn't want to pull away, or open them. It was the best thing he had ever felt, and he was worried if he opened his eyes, it would disappear, like a dream.

Too soon, Sirius pulled away. "Remus," he sighed, resting his forehead against the other boys'. "You've got no idea how long I've wanted to do that."

Remus smiled awkwardly, "Actually, I think I do," he said, running over all the daydreams he had of this moment. He had to admit, he preferred the reality.

I don't think the ending sounds right, there's should be more :/ But hope you like it anyways :D
