A/N: Alright, so...what can I say about this story? I've been writing a lot of angst lately, particularly if you follow my other WIPs the Boy Behind Bars, and I'd Release my Tether (If It Brings You Home) you know what I mean, and I was browsing YouTube and this idea was born. It takes place post series. The Duck Song belongs to Bryant Oden, and the video belongs to forrestfire101. The O.C. belongs to Josh Schwartz. I'm just writing fluff and humor based on this weird rabbit hole of a scenario.
1: Discovering the Duck Song
Sandy considered himself to have a high tolerance level. After all, he was on his second round of the whole parenting thing, but sometimes his children puzzled him.
"Hey, got any grapes?" Sophie Rose looked at him earnestly from across the kitchen table where she was coloring.
"Grapes?" Sandy folded his paper as he appraised his six year old daughter curiously. "I think there's some in the fridge."
"No thanks." Sophie stood from her chair giggling as she took her drawing and skipped away. "And he waddled away."
Sandy raised an eyebrow and shook his head. Kids would be kids.
Of course, the whole kids would be kids thing only stretched so far, and when your kids were in their twenties...well…
"Seth! Summer! Do you got any grapes?" Sophie didn't even wait until her older brother and his wife were settled in the house before she began her quest.
Seth and Summer exchanged a look. "Uh...no…" Seth ventured carefully. He met his father's eyes from the foyer. Sandy shrugged.
Summer looked at Sophie. "Hey, how about some lemonade? I hear your mom just made some. Let's go to the kitchen." Summer looked at her husband with an amused grin as she led Sophie to the kitchen. Sandy and Seth could hear the young girl giggling.
"I'll pass." She said. And she ran from Summer.
Sandy and his son sat in the living room.
"So what was all that about?" Seth asked.
"I wish I knew." Sandy ran a hand through his hair.
"So why did Soph just ask me about grapes?" Ryan entered the living room followed by Kirsten and Summer.
"We're all trying to solve the same mystery bro." Seth deadpanned.
"We should research it." Summer said pulling out her smartphone.
"And google what exactly?" Ryan asked.
"Got any grapes?" Kirsten suggested. At Sandy's incredulous look she smiled. "I did see this morning sweetheart."
Summer typed in the phrase and pulled up a Youtube video. "Ew!" But she was smiling. "God what is this?"
Ryan and Seth glanced at the phone. Seth laughed while Ryan simply raised an eyebrow.
"You think it's funny?" Ryan looked at his brother.
"It's a duck asking about grapes. What's not funny about that man?"
"It's annoying." Ryan said flatly. "How many times can you say waddle?"
Seth shrugged. "At least we solved the mystery."
It was true, they'd figured out what Sophie had picked up her sudden fascination with grapes from, but question still remained: who had she picked it up from?
A/N: So that was fun, um... alright so next, Sandy tries to figure out who could have shown Sophie the video. Any guesses?
