It was raining. The pale blue sky drew a deathly pallor over the city of Tokyo-3. Amidst the incessant tide of people walked a young man, weak in the knees, heavy with the weight of psychological grief and a burden far greater than any normal man could bear. But still, he pushed on, through the crowd, the rain-soaked streets and the bedlam of early morning traffic. His destination reared high before him in the distance, the highest building in all of Tokyo-3. 'What a perfect day,' he muttered under his breath. One foot fell before the other, sloshing through the concrete jungle. Streets blurred and the faces swarmed around him, he felt trapped in this tangled web of humanity. Adrenaline surges spilled through his veins. Was this the only way he could find? His teeth ground, his stomach churned, grumbling, knotted, contorted. Gathering a wind against his face, Shinji 's legs coiled tightly and propelled him down the busy street. His shoulders crashing and ripping through the mob as his legs carried him past the bulging cacophony of disapproving shouts and profanity. 'I'll fucking show them.' Heavenly defecate poured in the young man's eyes as he lurched past the concrete curb out into the lined pavement.

A squeal

A horn

The sound of steel shrieking and cackling

Shinji's body, impaled by his steel predator tumbled awkwardly to the ground in a bundle. The asphalt trampolened his flesh as he landed, sprawling backwards. Blackened blood oozed like oil from his pores.

In the distance something drew closer and closer circling around the bed of gravel where Shinji lay. Teeming like vultures to a carcass thronged the masses mouths a-gape in morbid allure.

Shinji's mind shrank into the enveloping nightmare of nothingness leaving one last thought,'I guess this served its purpose.'
