Beautiful?
A one off fanfiction featuring Kitana and Mileena. This is an old one off that was done under my previous penname SteelKunoichi. It is about two sisters coming together under tragic and brutal circumstances. I am also currently doing another remake of an old story, if you would care to take a look at it. Please, enjoy!
The young tarkatan woman stared mindlessly into the flames of her campfire, weighing up as to whether or not to finally muster the courage to remove her veil.
As far back as Mileena could remember, she was forbidden from removing her veil under the strict instructions of her Father. Mileena was always viewed as an outcast from the members of her Father's court. And while she had always managed to brush away the feelings of severe despondency and dejection, over the years it had taken it's toll on her spirit. Mirrors of any sort were removed from the palace, making Mileena feel as though she suffered from some form of leprosy.
The constant feeling of alienation from the others around her, made Mileena begin to isolate herself from anything resembling a human life force. Although she was never openly sneered at, she would always somehow manage to hear the snickers under their breaths as she passed them by.
Mileena had quickly come to the conclusion that she would never be normal, that she would never be able to walk around with her head held high anymore. Ripping the veil from her face, and casting it aside, and with a small mirror in hand, she slowly but surely, began to rise it to her face. The butterflies churning within the depths of her stomach beginning to flutter uncontrollably as the mirror moved closer, and closer.
Mileena cried out in horror, as for the first time in her life, she could now see what she truly looked like, who she truly was. A smear of ugly and disfiguring scars donned what looked like once beautiful skin. The scars being almost identical as they began from ear-to-ear, meeting at the creases of her lips. Opening her mouth ever so slightly, the damage only seemed to get worse. Her mouth now fully wide open, and the scars giving way, the mirror revealed a full set of razor sharp, canine like fangs.
No, this is not real!
Mileena refused to believe what she was seeing. It couldn't be real, it couldn't! Grasping the mirror firmly in her palm, she carelessly, and without thinking about the consequences of her actions, she smashed the mirror on a near-by rock. The sharp edges of the mirror remorselessly penetrating her skin, blood gushing out of her now open wounds. Mileena made no effort what so ever to stop the bleeding, but merely stared at it, almost fascinated by the sight of her own blood.
She now knew why she was made to feel like such a monster. She was not the human being that she once thought she was.
Her twin sister, princess Kitana, had been watching from afar, unbeknownst to Mileena at the time. Stealthily stepping out of the shadows, revealing herself to her sister, Mileena looked up and bared her teeth at her sister in a threatening manner, acting more like a wild dog, rather than a person.
"Leave me be!" Mileena hissed, squatting in a defensive stance, and gripping her injured hand as if to somehow protect it.
"What are you doing Mileena?" the elder of the twins asked, a string of concern splashing through her voice.
"Why do you care? You've never cared before!" Mileena defended, growing even more furious with each passing moment as Kitana still continued to approach her.
Grabbing the sash from around her waist, Kitana ripped it in half, grabbed her sister's hand and began to fashion a bandage around large, open gash. Pressing firmly on the wound in order to stop the bleeding, Mileena hissed once more as pain shot through her hand and up her arm. Attempting to squirm free from her sister's grasp like an immature child, Mileena wailed in pain as Kitana continued to apply pressure.
"I have always cared" KItana muttered "You really have no idea do you?"
"What are you babbling on about this time?" Mileena spat
Without warning, and without explanation, Kitana grabbed a piece of glass belonging to the broken mirror, and placed it to her lower jaw, slitting her mouth from ear to ear, resembling much like Mileena's scar. And as Kitana fell to the ground in a heap, Mileena rushed to her side. Prompting Kitana's head on her knees, she looked at her sister, concern and bewilderment riddled across her face. All traces of her previous anger and hatred for her sister left Mileena as she cradled her sister in her arms, a trace of a small tear trickling down her face.
"Kitana? Why would you do something like this?" Mileena asked, gently running her fingers through her sister's hair.
"To be beautiful like you"….
