This is a song I wrote based on The Outsiders. Not that good, but I just felt like posting something else. Well, here it is!
(By the way, I don't own the phrases "beating tar" or "How the Other Half Lives." "Beating tar" is in The Outsiders, and "How the Other Half Lives" is the title to some classic almanac or something that I read about in school, something like that.)
How the Other Half Lives
Yeah…
You're on the wrong side of town,
Beaten up and dragged on down oh
Homeward bound;
And all you want is just to turn around
Oh, yeah
The streetlight blinds you
As you pray to God no one will find you
In your torn up clothes
As you think about what you've been told
About…
How the other half lives?
Are they happy?
Well of course they are
With their
Tough cool cars,
And extra time to beat up
Friends of ours
Oh…
How does the other half live?
With prized possessions they don't dare to give
Away…
Yeah...
You've got your
Fancy car,
You've just got back from beatin' tar
Out of helpless kids,
And you're still wondering why the hell you did
Don't wanna loose your cool
Which on your side of town is an unwritten rule
All you really want is
For the crazy fight to star to stop
And then you lie back
Beginning to wonder…
How does the other half live?
Are they happy?
Well of course they are with their
Loyal friends,
Who stand beside them 'till
The very end
Oh…
How does the other half live?
With reputations they don't dare to give
Away…
Oh, assumptions can kill your common sense,
Stereotypes will overrule your mind,
But no one should give a damn
Which side of town you come from…
Your personality doesn't have to match your street's kind…
Yeah…
You're on the wrong side of town,
Beaten up and dragged on down oh
Homeward bound;
And all you want is just to turn around…
How does the other,
How does the other half live?
Are they just like you?
Do they have feelings to?
Oh,
How does the other,
How does the other…half live?
There's some thought for you to give
Away…
