A tall man, who seems to be in his early fifties, is sweeping the floor of a small flower shop. All was peaceful, then the bell over the door rings, and a frantic young man walks in.
"Hello there, can I help you with anything?" The old man greets.
The younger man looks up, "Um, I'm looking for flowers for my girl friend."
The old man smiles, "What's the occasion?"
The younger man looks at his feet, "This is kind of stupid, but I'm going to tell her I love her for the first time." By the time he is finished his face is red.
The ole man chuckles, "She's a lucky girl, many young men just send a text. Is this the first time you have ever been in love?"
"Yes sir." The younger man stammers as he frantically scans the flowers.
"I appreciate your politeness, but sir makes me feel old. Please call me Adam." Adam says with a childlike gleam in his eyes.
"Yes si-Adam." The younger boy replies. Adam gestures for him to follow, they stop in front of red roses.
"Now, you can always get her red roses, they mean love, but everyone uses roses as a declaration of love." Adam informs. The younger man looks nervous.
"Don't worry there are more options." Adam says causing a small smile to grace the younger mans face.
"Orchids, and tulips both mean love. But this is your first love, something that only happens once. So I think some lilacs would be perfect, since they mean first love. But it's really up to you." Adam says as he shows the man the flowers.
The younger man scrutinizes each flower, before picking up a bouquet of lilacs. "I think I'll go we these."
Adam smiles as they walk over to the cashier. The younger man takes his wallet out, "So how much?" He asks.
Adam waves his hand, "Its on the house."
The younger boy looks up in surprise, "Thank you."
"No problem, young love is one of the most beautiful things." Adam smiles and then ushers the younger man out.
"Thank you, I really appreciate it." The younger man says as Adam pushes him out the door.
"Good luck!" Adam says as he waves. The younger man waves back as he walks down the road.
Adam resumes sweeping his flower shop, with a smile on his face.
A/N I got my information on flowers from: /general/meaning_of_ .
Adam once said he wanted to be a florist, and thus this story was created. It's a little boring, but I hope you guys liked it.
Please let me know if I made any spelling or grammar mistakes and I'll go back and fix them.
