Pauley: Hey guys. This was originally on Tumblr, to fill the prompt:
Red trying to convince Emma that even though she's not Ruby they still belong together?
Left by anonymous.
I hope you enjoy it :-)
"Emma listen..." Red half begged as Emma stalked away from her, away from the village square and back towards the woods that lead to the castle.
"No." Emma replied simply, mounting her horse, which she had left tethered nearby and turning her away sharply to gallop away.
Red was left stood at the edge of the village, her eyes filled with tears and her basket clutched loosely in her hand, within it, something that was significant to Emma.
~3 Days Later~
Emma was sat in the castle library. In the 'real' world, she had never been one for reading, but here, with nothing much to occupy her, she found solace in the tall rooms with the dusty old tomes to keep her company.
They didn't judge her for struggling to assimilate to the new land.
They didn't judge her for struggling with Mary Margaret as her mum.
They didn't judge her for struggling with the Ruby situation.
Emma couldn't help it.
She loved Ruby... Had loved her with all her heart, and she had truly believed that when they all came to this place that she would continue feeling that for Ruby, but seeing her as Red Riding Hood... It wasn't her girlfriend; it wasn't the woman she loved. It wasn't... it wasn't Ruby.
"Emma?" That was another thing. Red only ever called her Emma, or Princess. Ruby always called her Ems, or Lemur. Never Emma.
"Emma?" Emma sighed. If Mary had let Red into the castle, then they would have to talk, since, knowing Snow, they wouldn't be allowed to leave till things were sorted.
"I'm over here Ru-Red." Emma called back and Red appeared from behind a bookcase. Emma's jaw dropped. Red looked like Ruby... She had backed her hair up and coloured her lips... She was still in Red's cloak but she LOOKED like Ruby.
"Ruby?" Emma asked hesitantly, half rising from her chair.
"Yeah Ems." Emma rose completely from her chair at the use of the familiar nickname.
"Ruby?" She asked again, still not quite believing that it was HER Ruby and not Red. Red stepped forward again, now feeling not quite as sure about this plan.
"I wanted to show you that... despite everything, I'm still your Ruby, and you're still my Lemur... I mean... If you want to be... I mean... I understand if you really don't want to... I mean..." Now Emma was convinced. It wasn't Red's speech, per say, but the way she was rambling, it reminded Emma of the time Ruby asked her out.
Emma took one step forward, then another, before breaking into a slight run and jumping into Red's arms and burying her face in the crook of the other woman's neck.
"I love you Red." Emma muttered and Red nearly toppled over. Even if Emma accepted it, she had never even hoped to believe that she would call her by her name.
"I love you too Lemur."
Hope you enjoyed it :-)
