He walked through the misty haze of smoke that rose from a decaying building that was burnt to ashes moments before. The sounds of fightingq echoed from the empty path he walked. He knew that it was finally his time to say goodbye to this nasty and cruel forsaken world.
Bells rang as his covered hand griped the neglected metal door handle and pulled it ajar. The sweet aroma of coffee filled one of his senses, he breathed it in as deep as he could, knowing it would be his last time.
His reflection glared back at him as he sat patiently down on a stool that had been placed closest to the window. He slowly took his mask off that was hiding his true identity. If we were to start at the beginning of his story, he would not have looked so rugged and broken.
Another bell chime coaxed him out of his daydream; a voice he hadn't heard in a while spoke for the first time in what felt like years.
"...Hide?" The now deeper and chiseled voice questioned.
"So you haven't forgotten me after all, have you...? Kaneki" Hide laughed, jumping up from his warm seat on the stool.
Hide turned to face the entrance where his long lost friend was standing, shocked by this sudden encounter. Kaneki quickly covered his eye and dropped to the ground, refusing to let his best friend see him in this unforgivable state.
"Ah, don't worry about it man. I already know" Hide laughed, scratching his check in embarrassment, he didn't want to sound like a stalker.
"What?" Kaneki asked, even more astounded at what he was hearing, you could hear his voice trembling.
"Well yeah, I mean, I am your best friend. So, I guess this makes us the same then." Hide said. Seriousness grasped his eyes as the last sentence slipped from his mouth.
Speechless, Kaneki sat there, not knowing what to do. Hide was always the jokester, he wasn't sure to take him seriously or not.
"I thought you wouldn't believe me, it's weird huh?" Hide said, stretching back and picking up the mask he had left on the table.
Hide threw the mask on the floor in front of Kaneki; he picked it up and turned it around to reveal a clown staring back at him. Kaneki's body slumped even more to the floor, clasping the mask close to his fast paced heart. A red stream fell from his left eye as the rest of his soul shattered.
"Hide..."
