Notes: ok this is to be blamed on a few things….I've got the flu, I just got the new Westlife CD and my John muse has been so good lately. It's just a ficlet cause as much as I wanted to write something longer my head was not so willing. And once again my Cinderella obsession is in full flow lol.

Looking back on the memory of
The dance we shared 'neath the stars above
For a moment all the world was right
How could I have known that you'd ever say goodbye

And now I'm glad I didn't know
The way it all would end, the way it all would go
Our lives are better left to chance
I could have missed the pain
But I'd have had to miss the dance – The Dance – Westlife.

July 2006

John Cena spun a giggling redhead around in his arms as their song played. He'd spent weeks planning this moment, ever since his girlfriend had told him she'd always wanted to dance under the stars while that song played.

He'd timed it perfectly.

Lita had no idea he'd been planning it until she'd woken up that morning to find her 'Cinderella dress' as she called it with a note from her boyfriend telling her she was to spend the day being pampered and fussed over. Then at 7oclock she'd gotten dressed and gone downstairs to find him waiting for her outside, dressed in a suit and holding a single red rose.

She'd known then that he was her prince charming as their song played and she spun around in his arms.

The redhead glared at the Christmas tree Trish Stratus had insisted she put up.

"Stupid tree…being all bright and cheery…and Christmassy…"

"Oh Li cheer up or you're gonna turn into the grinch…"

"Bah humbug…wait…that's scrooge not the grinch…ugh Christmas is more overrated than Ashley Massaro's talent." The redhead scowled.

Trish sighed and sat down next to her friend.

"Look…John didn't actually break up with you did he? He just said he needed time to think about things."

"When have you ever known John to think about anything he can't eat, drink or drive? Time to think my ass…he just didn't have the guts to break up with me." The diva huffed and folded her arms across her chest.

"John loves you…I don't think you see how much…you two are meant to be together."

"Life isn't a fairytale Trish…"

"You used to think it was."

There was a loud knock at the door. Lita opened the door only to be greeted by a small white box lying on the ground.

"Who was that?"

"I don't know but they left this…"

The box had 'open me' written on it in very familiar handwriting. Lita opened the box and pulled out a small glass snowglobe. Hazel eyes looked closely at the figures inside it. Cinderella and prince charming were dancing.

"Li I think this is for you too…" Trish handed her friend a not that had fallen out of the box.

The redhead took the note and scanned it quickly.

Li…I have not broken up with you…I wont ever break up with you. I just needed time to realise how much you mean to me.

I love you…you're my Cinderella.

Now stop crying and turn this over…

The redhead laughed as she wiped a tear from her cheek and turned the not over.

Close your eyes and count to 10.

Lita did as the note said, closing her eyes and counting under her breath.

Hazel eyes opened and looked straight into bright blue.

"Merry Christmas Cinderella…"
