Romione

Hermione sat in the tent and held the deluminator. Harry and Ron had gone out to get the some food.

She twirled it in her hands, expecting something to happen- but nothing.

When Ron had come back and had told her that the light had gone right through his heart, with her saying his name, she didn't believe him.

But Hermione was clever, she did her research. It wasn't possible for that little ball of light to go through his heart unless he loved her; and Hermione knew that was wrong. It would only have been her voice too if she loved him, and that was definitely not true.

Hermione didn't love anyone, and even if she did; he was Ron! Harry's best friend, been friends since first year. Hermione was just a know-it-all. She was only here because she would get them out of tricky situations, not because they really liked her...

Hermione let a tear fall and she clutched the deluminator, ready to snap it; when it lit up. Hermione dropped it in fear and jumped back. It lit up and spoke, spoke her name.

"How can it be?" she said softly. The deluminator lay alight on the floor and it repeated her name 'Hermione, Hermione, Hermione.'

She picked it up cautiously, wondering what was going on: and then it suddenly stopped.

"Yeah, but it wouldn't work, Harry! I mean, look at me. I'm a worthless boy! I have nothing to give to her!" Hermione froze, before placing the deluminator down and jumping into her bed. She had told the boys she was too tired to help them hunt and they had let her rest.

They entered the tent quietly, Harry whispering.

"You didn't see her, Ron! She was crushed when you left, it was like someone had given her the Dementor's Kiss! It was awful... just ask her, Ron. You know she won't turn you down," Harry said and Hermione rolled over to face them, smiling.

"She wouldn't, Ron." Hermione said softly. Ron looked up and dropped the dead rabbit he had been carrying.

"H-Hermione- What- You- I," he stuttered, his ears blushing and Harry only smiled and stood back as Hermione ran to him, jumping up and hugging him. Ron held her, too baffled to do anything.

"I realise now, Ronald, I do love you," she said with a smile and Ron grinned back.

"Really?" he asked and she nodded. His grin widened and he held her tighter. "I love you, too, Hermione." he said and Hermione let out a squeak and kissed him, leaving Harry to sort out the dead rabbit that Ron had dropped on the floor.
