Scout, Scout, little girl, please,
Understand that you're naïve,
Maycomb ain't ready for your little big brain,
Keep on goin' and they'll think you're insane.
I know that school's becoming a drag,
But don't follow your brother – you've got your own swag.
The poor and the weak are ostracised,
They scrimp and scrape to stay alive.
You're a smart little thing though you don't have a lot,
Miss Caroline can't see the potential you've got.
You're a scarred little kid, we need to toughen up you,
I only have one thing to say – Boo.
This was written for an English lit task on To Kill A Mockingbird (Too obvious?) and I liked it, a lot. With thanks to Lil, Alex, Devin, Jenny, and Beth as always.. Love y'all.
