"So, what does it do exactly?"
"It makes you feel sort of off to vampires. Like you're leaking radiation. Like, if I touched you I might feel off."
"Oh, well, that's good. That's probably good…"
…..
Laura looks at the bat wing dangling from her wrist. There's so many questions on the tip of her tongue that she wants to blurt out but she doesn't want to make things awkward.
Do I repulse you? Do I make you uncomfortable? Do you not want to touch me? Laura thinks, not knowing if these are appropriate to ask.
"You look awfully deep in thought. Look, I know the bracelet isn't the prettiest of things but it kind of makes you look badass," Carmilla jokes trying to get Laura to smile.
Laura meets Carmilla's eyes, her hair covering half her face. Without even thinking about it, Carmilla reaches over and tucks the hair behind Laura's ear. Laura freezes at the contact of Carmilla's cold fingers against her cheek.
"Sorry… I shouldn't have done that," Carmilla grasps her hands together.
"Didn't that… make you feel off?" Laura asks, unsure.
"What do you mean?" Carmilla asks back, obviously confused.
"Because of the bracelet… Does it make you uncomfortable to be around me? To have any sort of contact?" The sadness in Laura's voice is evident to Carmilla.
Carmilla is silent for a while, trying to compose how to explain to Laura what she feels.
"I shouldn't have said anything," Laura says, about to go curl up in her bed.
"Laura wait," Carmilla starts, her voice soft. "I'm already too used to you. I mean, I've been around you for enough time that it would take a much stronger charm to keep me away from you. I'm sorry if I put that impression in your head. Nothing about you makes me feel off."
"Oh, that's good because we're roommates and all. I wouldn't want you to feel repulsed every time you walked in your own room." Laura tries to play it cool but her heart starts to race, something she can't hide from Carmilla's acute hearing.
"Oh yeah, I wouldn't want to puke up breakfast every time I got a whiff of your shampoo." Carmilla leans in slightly to play with the end of Laura's hair. She brings it to her nose and takes a deep inhale. She smiles to herself as Laura's heart quickens once again.
"Yeah, that would be a shame. Especially since you steal my pillow so much," Laura jokes, her voice slightly shaky.
"I love how you smell." Carmilla leans in closer, her head near Laura's neck. "But, I love how you taste even more." Laura bends her neck to give Carmilla full access, not knowing Carmilla's intentions and not really caring at this point. Her breathing is unsteady making Carmilla grin.
"Go ahead and taste then," Laura bravely welcomes, testing Carmilla.
Carmilla leans in, mouth slightly parted. Laura closes her eyes, readying herself for the pain of the bite. Instead Carmilla purses her lips together and starts kissing Laura's neck.
Laura lets out an exhale of breath, taking in every slow kiss Carmilla offers. Laura puts her hand under Carmilla's chin and guides her lips into her own. Their first kiss is rushed, as if both of them have been waiting weeks to finally be together. They break away after just a few seconds and stare at each other.
Carmilla breaks the silence. "See, not repulsed in the slightest," she jokes. This time she's the one out of breath, making Laura grin.
"Not only does this bracelet make me look badass, it makes me feel badass too," Laura whispers, feeling sexy. She leans in for another kiss.
