There he was, on the court. A very cute, very blonde Josh Hutcherson, playing basketball for the Straight but Not Narrow benefit. He was goofing around, dancing to the music playing in the background. Abby smiled, thinking about the night before. He had done the same dance for her in her room. Her mind wandered off, thinking about the kisses, the laughs, and the fun they always have together. It had been about three months, and their relationship was as strong as ever. Abby hated that it was a secret, but at the same time, it was fun. Sneaking around so that paparazzi didn't find them had turned out to be quite a thrill. Josh made it fun, pretending they were spies, telling Abby to "synchronize your watch" or pointing out an "enemy at ten o clock!" Abby giggled and played along, but they both knew that someday, he'd have to announce it. Or, at least get his publicist to release a statement. And then, the fandom would come down on her.
Although there weren't many, Abby knew there were fangirls sitting in the same stands as she was. She knew this shouldn't bother her, but it did. Josh was hers, no one else's. No one else should be ogling her man, but there were at least twenty girls she could see with their eyes glued to him. Abby inhaled, and exhaled, trying to calm herself. She focused on Josh, instead. He was still dancing, occasionally getting some action with the ball. He was just such a kid, goofing around. Abby loved that about him. Suddenly, the ball came flying at him, and with ease, he caught it, and started dribbling up the court. He went around a big, hulking man, and shot at the basket. Abby watched the ball, and as soon as it went in the basket, she jumped up and cheered as loud as she could, with a big smile on her face.
Josh high fived one of his teammates, but he looked distracted, looking at the stands. Looking for Abby. Abby realized this right as his eyes met hers. Without a thought, he put up his arm and waved at her. Abby waved back, but then quickly put her hand down, realizing what they'd just done. Josh didn't seem to care, continuing to smile brightly at her. Abby's cheeks glowed red, feeling every fangirl's eyes on her. She looked up to the jumbotron, and saw her own, shocked face. She instinctively brought her hand up to fix her bangs, and before she could take a breath, someone to her left was asking for her name.
"Abby Milton," she answered slowly, and stared out trying to find Josh's eyes again. Maybe he'd tell her how to handle this, or at least give her a reassuring smile. He was too busy blocking a small redhead from taking a shot. She vaguely heard the woman ask her another question.
"I-I'm sorry, could you repeat that?" Abby asked, polite, but frazzled. The lady dressed in professional-looking clothes sighed, showed a tight smile, and repeated her question. "Can you confirm that you and Josh Hutcherson are dating?"
Abby stared blankly at the woman, trying to decide how to answer. The woman gave her a strange look, like she thought Abby was a little slow. It was time, she decided. Josh clearly knew what he was doing when he waved, and he didn't seem to care. He was going to be all hers for all the public to see, and all she had to do was answer one simple question.
"Yes," Abby said with a smile, "Josh Hutcherson and I are dating."
