It's way harder than simply writing a song for your crush when she's so perfectly sweet; she'd need something, something a lot stronger, to reveal exactly how he feels.
Ivan was at more than just at a loss, and it wasn't like he could go to his crush for help, let alone find some way to win her over.
She's the class president, and she was the perfect motivational speaker whenever she let those words fly into the air and let hope shine above all else in the class.
Marinette was everything that Ivan had never expected to crave, but how could he not? She was so perfect, and she always seemed to care for everyone deep down. No one else just made Chloe a scarf and hoped for the best; he was pretty sure that she'd done it due to Chloe growing lately or Marinette's view of her growing, and the fact that Chloe was Adrien's childhood friend. He wouldn't say anything though.
Ivan was pretty sure that Chloe must have said something semi-sweet about it, because Marinette smiled back at her before she'd returned to her seat. Nino had probably whispered something to Marinette, and she'd looked so happy when she'd answered him.
Ivan was screwed; Marinette was far too perfect, far too sweet, for him not to love her. Her hidden strength was awe worthy, and her shyness that sometimes took her over around Adrien was absolutely adorable.
He probably didn't have a chance with her, not when her face went cherry red when Adrien turned around and spoke to her, taking her hands in his, and probably thanking her for giving Chloe a gift. Ivan was definitely screwed, because Marinette was passionate and wasn't simply the one to budge, to leave her crush behind because someone else noticed her. She was too loyal for that one.
Ivan had no idea how he hadn't kissed her when he'd opened up her present for him, instead Ivan gave Marinette a big hug, squeezing her close to where his heart beat so out of tune in his chest for her. She was perfect; she'd remembered one of his favorite bands and had somehow got an album of theirs signed, the latest album, and one of two that Ivan hadn't had before. She'd also hand designed and made a T-Shirt with his favorite song lyric on it, and he still wasn't sure why he didn't kiss her then. He'd probably call it self-preservation later, because surely, she wouldn't accept a kiss as a thank you.
"Thank you so much, Marinette." If his deep voice broke over her name, she gave no response to it breaking; honestly, his feelings for this girl were so unbelievably strong.
"You're welcome." She smiled up at him, and just how tiny she looked, made him want to snuggle her more against his arms and hold her tight in his embrace again. She'd fit so perfectly small there, just enough to hear his racing heart, and know more than his words seemed to say.
