All that matters
He thought he'd destroyed his legacy; thought that by leaping through time he'd destroyed the lives of his only Son and his two Grandchildren. They'd been destined to follow the way of "letters," not lead the life of normal (ape) hunters.
He'd opened the front flap of John Winchester's journal (his journal), despising everything that it stood for; determined to set things right.
But now as he lay dying in Sam's arms he realised the truth. The only letters that mattered were F.A.M.I.L.Y.
Urgently he grabbed for his Grandsons hands.
With his dying breath he would tell them he understood.
