Help Wanted

I get no money or payment for this. Dick Wolfe owns everything. And I mean everything.

A/N: Still working on some ideas for a more serious post-loyalty. I am inspired by the way by SilentG, Unicorn,Cyclone, Patcat and Daystar. Here's to you guys.

About Two months after Loyalty…..

Bobby sat with his feet on the edge of Lewis's desk while Lewis stood behind the desk pushing papers around. "I know I put it somewhere.." Lewis mumbled.

"So..Okay. I need a job" Bobby looked at him.

Still rifling around his desk Lewis didn't look up and said "Crack open a newspaper Bobby. So does half the country."

"No. I mean…I need something temporary."

"Found it!" Lewis smirked waving around a coffee stained invoice.

"Lewis, pay attention. I want a job." Lewis looked at him blankly and held up his hands. Then he squinted.

"Oh no. You do not expect me to hire you?"

"Why not? Bobby looked offended

"C'mon, Bobby. I love you like a brother man, but I don't have anything. Honest."

"What about this?" Bobby held out a clipping of a Help wanted ad and began to read

"Help Wanted. Lewis Auto Body and Restoration. Must have auto mechanical experience with both modern autos and older models. Must have an interest in restoration work and be willing to work longer than normal hours to help build up restoration aspect of business. Call 555-2929 and ask for Lewis". Bobby put the ad away.

"Bobby. When's that from? "

"Yesterday"

"Exactly. I hired someone about three hours after I opened yesterday. You know how many people I had interested?"

"No" Bobby grumbled

"Like twenty. In the first hour." He looked at Bobby's face and sighed. "Besides, you'd be wasting your time here. This is so far from what you did. Far from what you can do. We both know it."

Bobby rubbed the back of his neck. "Look, Lewis. I'm desperate. I need some money. Just to tide me over until I find something permanent. I'll work for cash. Off the books. I'll work as long as it takes and you only need to pay me during working hours." He could see Lewis was beginning to waiver. "You know I can do it. I love restoring old cars."

"Well…here's the thing Bobby. You'll need to work with my new mechanic".

"No problem."

"Really? Cause, no offense, but you don't work too well with other people. Especially people who know more than you."

"Really. This new mechanic knows more than me about old cars. I doubt it." He snorted.

"See, Bobby. That's what I mean. Can the superior attitude. Can you do that?"

"I can."

Lewis stared at him for a minute and shook his head mumbling, "I can't believe I'm doing this.."

"Thanks man. I really appreciate it." He slapped Lewis's back.

Walking through the garage Lewis pointed various things out to Bobby and shouted introductions at the other mechanics. They stopped walking when they got the front of a very old Camero.

"I bought a new guy in to work with you" Lewis shouted at the feet sticking out from under the car.

A voice came out from under "Great…because this car is going to take a while Lewis."

"I'm Bobby" he said to the feet

The feet then became a body and Bobby's mouth dropped open and then into a big grin.

"Alex". She said with a matching grin.

They continued to stare at each other until Bobby reached over and wiped a grease smudge off her cheek.

"Well. Get to work you two." Lewis tried to hide his smile.

They nodded and Lewis walked away and looked behind him. They were still staring at each other, grinning.

"Hey…I'm not paying you to make googly eyes at each other. Jeez." Lewis walked away shaking his head.
