Hello! It's Paw back with a short little snippet. It popped into my mind while I was reading and I couldn't drop it or wait until I posted/wrote it.

It's AU of Narnia. The Pevensie's aren't brother and sister, only good friends. It has a little more of a description in my story here, so I'm hoping you'll see what's going on if you haven't already.

This story is only a one-shot!

Disclaimer: I don't own Narnia.

So, I hope you enjoy.

Not Everything

Lucy stood on the deck of The Dawn Treader overlooking the Narnian Sea. The salty water misted her face and she could see the swimming mermaids below her. Lucy felt a smile graze her lips.

She loved Narnia. Absolutely love it. She had lived one full life there before; her friends had lived lives there.

Peter Levy had been High King of Narnia and had acted like Lucy's older brother. Susan Ryder had been High Queen of Narnia and was her closest friend and acted like her older sister. And last was Edmund Pevensie. He was the King of Narnia. Unlike the others, she didn't feel any sibling bond between them.

No, it was much the opposite, actually.

During their first life here, they had been in love.

In Narnia, they were kings and queens. In real life, they were children who didn't know anything.

Lucy sighed and rested her head against her hand.

The situation gave her a headache. Her life was a mess.

Yet, she smiled.

She missed this.

How she missed Narnia in her years back in England. How she missed riding horses and wearing her crown. How she missed seeing the Narnian Forests and the Narnian Seas! Oh, how she missed the feel of Narnia!

How she missed Edmund.

Her heart hurt at the thought of her former love. She mourned her former partner.

Things weren't the same. They never were. They never would be. Not in England. Not even in Narnia.

She always thought that once they'd go back to Narnia, things would return to normal. They would realize they were being foolish in England and fall in love again. Lucy always thought she would get her king back.

Was she ever disappointed.

Now that she was back, the truth hit her. It would never be the same.

Edmund hadn't seemed to see Lucy in any other way other than a friend when they got back to England. They weren't in love. They didn't share their lives together.

They were separate.

Well, that wasn't completely true.

Lucy had only been eight years old and Edmund had been ten years old when they got back from Narnia. Lucy concluded they couldn't continue their feelings of unwavering love for one another at this point in their lives. At the time, it had been confusing for Lucy and Edmund to say the least.

And heartbreaking.

Very heartbreaking.

At age eight, Lucy mourned Edmund. For the longest time, she couldn't fall asleep properly. She missed the warm body beside her, the soft whispers of love, and the feeling of constant protection. She wasn't the same.

But, Lucy still loved Edmund. She always had.

Narnia had always been for only their little group. It had always been Peter, Susan, Edmund, and her.

Now, even that had been changed.

Peter and Susan were never able to come back to Narnia.

Never able to come back to their home.

Instead of them, Eustace came. Eustace, the same Eustace that was Edmund's cousin.

Lucy couldn't help but wonder how Eustace could take the place of Peter and Susan.

How could a rude, arrogant, jerk take the place of two beautiful souls?

Lucy lowered her wet eyes to look at the darkening sea. She couldn't help but shiver from the night winds whipping her nightgown around her legs.

Everything had changed since their Golden Age. She couldn't be Lucy anywhere. She couldn't be the person she grew to be all those years ago. She couldn't be her true self in England. Now, she couldn't even be her true self in Narnia.

Everything was too different.

"Hey, Lu." Lucy jolted out of her thoughts and turned around to come face to face with Edmund. Lucy smiled softly at her oldest friend and felt her heart break all over again.

"Hey," she said. The young queen looked upon her former love. He looked like he did when they shared their first kiss. His hair hung in his piecing dark eyes, making them look even more alluring. His lips were perfectly shaped and coloured. His skin practically glowed under the moonlight.

Lucy closed her eyes. He was absolutely gorgeous. She wanted to fall into his arms and be warmed desperately.

That wasn't going to happen.

She turned around back to the dark sky and tried to steady her heartbeat.

Lucy jumped when she felt a warm arm snake around her shoulder. She looked up at Edmund, eyes wide. Her heart melted when their eyes connected. The corners of her lips quirked up in a smile and she melted to his frame.

"Thanks," she mumbled.

"For what?" Edmund laughed. Lucy smiled and closed her eyes, trying to memorize his touch.

"I was getting cold," she stated softly. Edmund smiled and closed his eyes along with the girl in his arms. Lucy turned in his hold so her cold nose was pressed against his warm neck. He shivered and Lucy giggled. Her hot breath brushed his neck and Edmund was having a hard time swallowing.

"You are cold," Edmund managed to say. Lucy took a deep breath and smiled.

"I'm not adapted to Narnian winters yet," the young queen stated simply. "I mean, not like before."

"We were pretty good at withstanding cold, weren't we?" Edmund chuckled.

"We were." She looked through her lashes up at Edmund. Her heart hurt.

It always did around him.

"We've all changed" he stated bluntly. "Change is inevitable." Lucy pulled away from Edmund and looked at him with a puzzled face.

"We don't have to change, Edmund," she pressed. "We choose to."

"We don't have total control over our lives," he argued. Lucy frowned.

"But we can choose to fight back. If we want something, we go for it."

"It's not that easy..." They both sighed. "I wish it was, Lu. I really do. You know that, right?" He looked pleadingly at her and she felt her heart drop.

"It can be!" she insisted. "We saw what our lives held for us. We get a second chance to have that again. It might not be the exact same, I'm not asking for that, but I know we have potential."

"Potential or not, it's not going to be the same," he said. Lucy groaned.

"It doesn't have be. We can be us again." Edmund frowned. "We've done this once before. We fought for us here. We overcame challenges. What makes you think we can't do that again?"

"Are you sure that really want to?" Edmund asked. Lucy made a face and pulled away from Edmund's hold.

"Right, I forgot." She turned to face the night sky.

"What's that supposed to mean?" Edmund asked with a frown, stepping forward to meet her once again.

"It's supposed to mean that I forgot that you have your pick of girls at home," Lucy sourly said. "Like Susan, or Emma, or-"

"Oh, Lucy," Edmund said slowly, taking hold of her hand that hung at her side. He thought that Lucy was the most beautiful woman to walk the earth. She would be the only one he could ever love or see. Meanwhile, she was always thinking she never was beautiful, and Edmund could only thank his friend for that. To the young king, his love was more beautiful than Susan, or any other girl Edmund ever laid eyes on. "You're beautiful. More beautiful than any other woman."

"Then why ask if I wanted to be with you?" Lucy asked slowly. "You make it seem like us is so impossible. You make it seem we had one chance an-"

Edmund leaned forward and silenced Lucy with a kiss. He wrapped his arms around her waist and pulled her close to him. Lucy was frozen for a second before responding fully to the kiss. She wound her hands in his dark hair and pulled his face closer to hers. Her mind was reeling, but her heart was perfectly steady. She still fit perfectly with him. They both pulled away feeling more content than they had in years. Edmund leaned his forehead against Lucy's and looked into her dark amber eyes.

"I was asking if you were sure because our life is a mess. People can change. People change," Edmund whispered softly. Lucy blinked confusingly at the Just King.

"Don't be silly, Ed," Lucy said softly. Edmund stroked Lucy's cheek lovingly.

"I love you still, Lucy," Edmund whispered. Her eyes watered the slightest and her chest tightened. "Nothing has changed there."

"I love you, too, Ed," Lucy whispered. "More than you can imagine." Edmund pressed his lips to her lips once more.

Not everything had changed.

I know it was short, but isn't short sweet?

I hoped you liked it!
