Hi! This is my first Merlin fanfiction and I would really appreciate it if you would review and tell me what you think! Thanks!

Gosh my head hurt.

I swear someone is inside my head right now taking a chisel to my skull. It's possible, actually: one of my spells could've gone a little wrong…

"Merlin! Get your skinny little arse in here right now before I put you in the stocks!" Stupid Arthur-the prat. Oh so badly I wanted to tell him to shut his petty little mouth-now wasn't the time I wanted to do his chores.

"Merlin!"

I rubbed my forehead as I walked in.

"Yes, Sire?" I said as sarcastically as I could.

"Did you, perhaps, finish your chores?" he sauntered up to me.

"I still have to… ummm… well I mucked out the stables and polished your armor…," I listed, scratching my head.

"Idiot, have you already forgotten?! You still have to sharpen my sword and walk my dogs!"

"Got it," I slid out the door before he could yell at me again.

'God if only I could just sit down for a second!' I thought, rubbing my throbbing temples. I turned the corner, only to find myself run into Elyan.

"Sorry, Merlin! Didn't see you there!" he said, swiftly apologizing. "Hey, by any chance have you seen Gwen anywhere? I need to talk to her."

"No, sorry," was my quick reply. I started to walk off.

"You okay, Merlin? You don't seem yourself."

"Never better!" I lied through my teeth, waving my hand in a dismissing manner. Out of the corner of my eye I saw Elyan shrug and continue around the corner, probably in search of his sister. I, on the other hand, went off in the direction of the armory.

Sharpening Arthur's sword didn't help my headache at all.

The constant screeching of the metal was a heavy burden on my ears; an orchestra of violent screeching. I couldn't take it anymore and dropped the sword on the ground. I felt my self falling, falling, and I didn't even feel the conclusion of my seemingly endless drop.

I woke up sometime later with my eyesight all fuzzy, but I could still tell that I was in Gaius' chambers.

"Merlin, my boy, how do you feel?" The fuzzy form of Gaius came into view.

"I—," I tripped over my own voice, words not forming properly in my mouth. I saw Gaius reach and grab what looked like a goblet.

"Drink this—it should help you," he assured as he helped me drink the vial liquid. The world was now sharp and with no blurring lines. I suddenly didn't feel out-of-body anymore.

"Is that better?"

"Loads," I croaked.

After moments of silence, Gaius finally said, "What happened, Merlin? Arthur carried you into my chambers yesterday evening; he said he found you passed out in the armory."

"I only remember…," I had to pause and think about this. "I had a headache. It was really overwhelming. I think it had to do with my magic. I could just feel—," I stopped there, dizziness overcoming me.

"Merlin, are you okay?"

"No," I clutched my head; I could feel myself slowly falling back into oblivion.

"Merlin, try and stay awake!"

"I'm sorry, Gaius," and my vision went black once again.

So I decided to combine the previous chapters 1 and 2 into one prolouge. Sorry for any confusion. Feel free to message me with any questions! Thanks for reading and please review!
