Late at night, Maxxor was in his study going over the reports from the front lines. The M'arrillian War was still going on and right now the Overworlders were not doing so well.
Maxxor felt like his age has tripled in the past few months and the strain of the war was getting to him.
"Maxxor, may I come in?" Intress asked from behind the large doors.
"Come in." he says, happy that he can talk to his beloved and take his mind off how badly the war was going. Intress opened the door and went inside, closing the door behind her.
Intress was worried about Maxxor. He has been in a bad mood for a few weeks now and he never gets enough sleep any more (well, he never had gotten much sleep, since he became the Overworld Ruler, but it's just gotten worse).
Luckily, Intress has something that she thinks will help cheer him up and hopefully get him to rest more.
"I have something I believe will make you smile." Intress says, waving a piece of paper in her hand.
"Unless it's a good report of a victor in the war than I doubt will make me smile." Maxxor sighs.
"Well, it's not a report, but you'll like it."
"If it's not a report then what is it?" he asks.
"Just read it and find out for yourself." she hands him the paper and he takes it.
Looking at the paper, he is surprised that it was written in different colors. It looked like a rainbow had written it.
"Dear Ruler Maxxor,
I hope that the creatures fighting the mean M'arrillians are doing okay! Do they write letters? I hope you are felling well! I'm 10 and 1/2 solans old! How old are you? I bet you're a 100 solans old!
Daddy and Mommy say you're a good creature. I like good creatures, so I like you! Daddy told me you live in Kiru City. I've not been there, but I want to come visit you!
From one of your biggest fans."
"You were right!" Maxxor laughed, something he hasn't done in long time. He just loved the nice litter that a child must have written to him. It brought up his spirits and he couldn't stop smiling.
"I told you, you would love it." she said. "Are you going to write back?"
"I want to," he really did, but he didn't want his other Overworld citizens think that he would respond to every letter sent to him. If it wasn't for Intress somehow getting the letter and showing him, then this piece of paper would have never made it into his hands.
"Then go ahead a write a little to the little kid. That child helped the ruler of the Overworld smile! I think that deserves one letter, don't you?"
"I guess so." he said, then yawned. "I'll write it first thing in the morning. I'm going to bed."
