Caught in the Maelstrom

(A/N this is the sequel/side story to Caught in the Fray since, yes Caught in the Fray has ended.

Alright! I think I owe most of my fans, If I have any, an apology. I'm reposting this because it's been so long since I've even worked on my "Caught" line of stories. I was just so unhappy with Caught in the Frey that I didn't want to work in this, but I'm going to try again…and hope I don't screw this up. Just to let you know beforehand-Like Caught in the Frey I will not update chapters that are like 9 pages long. After attepting to write a novel which did have chapter longer then eleven pages-not a lot-I learned something about myself, I can't write that many pages without drifting from the main Idea.

Which would you rather read? A long chapter in which half of it useless detail and conversations that have nothing to do with anything, or a short meaningful chapter that doesn't move that fast?

Er, well there's my Mini-rant…)

Naruto stood in Sasuke's door way. It was about midnight when Naruto knocked on the door of the Uchiha heir. Sasuke leaned on his door frame glaring at naruto from waking him up from an interesting dream. Naruto stared at Sasuke with sad blue eyes before he spoke.

"Sasuke I…" He hesitated.

"Spit it out!" Sasuke said rubbing his eyes.

"Can I ask you a question?" He said looking down at the floor.

"You woke me up to ask me a question?" Sasuke groaned out, preparing to slam the door in the blonds face.

"It's important." Naruto looked Sasuke in the eyes.

"Then…" He said impatient.

"If…if I were to disappear tomorrow…would…would you miss me?" Naruto gazed at Sasuke, he knew the response...but he couldn't help but hope...

"That's a stupid question." Naruto looked at him with hope. "Of course I wouldn't, with you gone that would mean one less annoying person to bug me." Naruto's eyes fell at the response. Putting on a fake grin he looked back up to Sasuke.

"I thought you would say that…" He turned his back to the Uchiha. "Okay that's all I wanted… Good bye Sasuke." With that he left.

'I guess…I guess my expectations were too high after all…' Naruto thought as he walked down the street.

Naruto looked at the clock on his desk. 'One am' He stared at the note he had been writing and sighed. A sudden wind entered the room announcing the presence of a new person in the room.

"Are you ready?" Naruto didn't need to turn around to know who it was.

"Yeah…let's go Itachi."

A long sigh escaped chapped lips. The blond looked up at Itachi as they entered a strange cave. The cave, after a bit of walking, opened up into a huge shrine that was drowning in a red glow. Silhouettes turned to look at the new comer.

"Are you completely sure about this, Naruto-kun?" Itachi looked down at the blond.

"As sure as I'll ever be…" He said, still sounding unsure. Itachi frowned and turned toward the rest of them.

"So you finally brought him…" A gruff voice echoed.

"I told you I would, didn't I Kisame?"

"Heh…"

"Well now that you're here." Another voice echoed. A blond man walked up to him. "We can start the next stage of our project."

"Which would be?" Naruto questioned.

"You see soon enough." Deidara smirked while ruffling Naruto's blonde locks.
