Well, here we go again. This is the project I promised you guys, and I'm proud to say that this will be my best work on this website. I promise that. Before you begin reading, though, I will like to address a few things. One thing is to check out Warrior of Hope. He will most likely be beta reading a good porportion of this fanfiction, and I can't thank him enough for that. Seriously, go check out his story "The Quest for Greatness" as well. You will not be disappointed. Secondly, though, this fanfiction will take a more realistic spin at the Pokemon world, and therefore, there will be many deaths. I can't say who will be dying, but just keep that in the back of your mind. Thirdly, our MC will have to grind. If you're expecting a fanfiction where the MC just walks through everything with ease, you will be disappointed. While he will have his ups, there will be a lot of downs throughout his journey. Another thing I would like to put out there is that this journey will take years to complete, and I will enjoy writing every single part of it.

Disclaimer: I do not own Pokemon or any of their characters. I only own my own OCs.

It had been the beginning of June, and summer was starting to pick up a lot. It was roughly ninety-one degrees in Litore Town, and the temperature wasn't planning on dropping anytime soon. Two male teenagers, one brunet and one blond, had been walking down the Litore beach, the ocean waves rising and falling against the shore. The brunet was wearing beige cargo shorts and a black tank top, with black trainers and white socks that went above the ankle. He also had a small, yellow Pokemon, that took the resemblance of a plug, an Elekid. Looking at the Pokemon's face, there was an expression of extreme confidence. The brunet looked at his Pokemon with an approving expression.

"Hector, I like the confidence," he said. "That's what's gonna get us far on our journey."

The other teenager looked at the speaker and shook his head. He was wearing brown khaki shorts and a red t-shirt, with white trainers and black socks that went above the ankle. By his side, was a small, humanoid, blue and white Pokemon - a Meditite - who was glaring at Hector.

"Ryan, just saying, no matter how far you get, Shiva and I will always be one step ahead of you," the blond said with a smirk.

Drake, I second that one, his Pokemon said telepathically with a smirk of his own.

Ryan and Hector looked at Drake and Shiva like they had two heads. Seconds later, though, Hector laughed at Shiva, who was now fuming.

Watch what you say, you brain-dead plug, or we can go at it right now.

"Ele! Kid!" the Electric-type shot right back, almost challenging Shiva.

Shiva walked up to Hector, and their faces were mere inches apart. Shiva looked ready to throw a punch at the provoking Elekid, but was stopped by Drake, who gave him a disapproving look.

"Shiva, come on," Drake scolded. "You're much better than this."

He starte-

"It doesn't matter," he said, starting down at Shiva. "I really don't need to hear you two constantly bickering like a bunch of teenage girls. It gets annoying after a while, just saying."

Ryan was watching the situation go on and, shook his head disapprovingly at Hector, who looked like he was about to jump at the Meditate Pokemon.

"Sorry about Hector, bro," Ryan said, looking at Drake. "You know how their feud goes, though, it never ends."

The duo laughed as they continued walking. As Ryan and Drake walked, their Pokemon didn't even bother to look at each other, remaining quiet as they didn't want to get scolded again.

"Y'know, it's funny because I remember it just like yesterday when I first got Shiva," Drake said, breaking the silence, to which Ryan nodded. "Time flies by so fast, dude."

"Yeah, that's what it's like for me," Ryan agreed, looking down at Hector, smiling. "I remember when we first brought Hector and Shiva to school and had that battle in front of everybody.

"I also remember beating you," Drake reminded, with a smirk, but Ryan had something ready to fire back.

"Drake, may I remind you that was the only battle you've won against me."

Drake rolled his eyes at that, and opened his mouth to say something. If he wants to go down this road, I can too.

"But that was the one that really counted, Ryan," he responded, drawing a confused look from Ryan. "You don't win where it counts."

"In my books, every battle has the same worth," Ryan said, shrugging his shoulders. "But if you really wanted to, we can battle right now, and I promise you, Hector and I will humble you."

"Are you sure about that? Shiva and I have been training hard a lot, and I don't think you can handle us," Drake said, as Shiva nodded confidently.

He's right, Ryan, the Fighting-type said, grinning. You will not beat us this time.

Between the four, tensions had been rising. Hector stepped up to Shiva and said something that set the humanoid Pokemon off.

Again, we can go right now, and I will trash you, Hector. Once again, the two glared at each other and were mere inches apart. This time, though, the two trainers didn't separate them, and looked at each other, nodding their heads.

"Let's do this," both of them said simultaneously, placing smirks on Hector's and Shiva's faces, respectively.

With that, the duo went to go find an open field. Neither party planned on losing, and if they had to battle the entire day, they would and they wouldn't give up until the very end.

We got this Shiva, Drake thought, staring at his first Pokemon, who had the prideful smirk on his face. We aren't losing this time.

"So how much are we putting on the line?" Ryan asked, as they all approached the field.

The field they were using was at the back of the local Pokemon Center and there was about three spectators watching in the stands to the side. They all had curious looks on their faces while Drake and Ryan went to their respective sides.

"I'm thinking 70? That sounds reasonable," Drake said across the field, Shiva walking forward, with the same confident look on his face as before.

At the same time, Hector stepped forward, his fist crackling with electricity. He had a similar look as Shiva, one of pure confidence and pride. Hector wasn't planning on losing, and he was going to go to far lengths to win this.

"That's fine, Drake," Ryan said simply. "You want first move, though?"

"You can have first move; it's only fair for the loser," he responded, with a chuckle. Ryan, however, was not sharing the laugh.

Drake was thinking over multiple plays he could make, before smirking as the right one, he thought, popped in his mind. We can beat Hector up close, we just have to give him limited space.

"Quick Attack, Hector!" Ryan shouted, throwing a fist forward. The battle had just begun and Ryan wasn't planning on letting up an inch

"Fake Out!"

The command was shouted immediately afterwards, and Metidite was quick to meet Hector midfield. Shiva smacked him with white energy, causing the Electric-type to flinch. Drake was looking on and saw this as an opening and decided to follow up with a big play.

"Zen Headbutt, full power!"

With added psychic energy, Shiva headbutted Hector in the gut, causing a grunt to escape from him. The power of the attack alone had sent Hector reeling back a few steps, and Drake planned on continuing the assault.

"Now, hit 'em with a Drain Punch!" he said with a smirk.

Ryan had been taken aback by Shiva having access to Drain Punch, but he still managed to think of an effective counter.

"Block with a Thunder Punch!" Ryan knew this battle was going to go on for a while, as evident by Shiva's look.

We'll have to work for this win, Hector, come on.

When the Electric-type got up from the Zen Headbutt attack, he sprinted forward-at a much faster speed than Shiva-with his right fist covered with electricity. Shiva still ended up meeting Hector, though, his left fist encapsulated with brown energy. Both of their fists collided and they appeared to be at equal strength before Shiva let out a scream and pushed forward.

"Hit him with a left!"

Hector's left fist began to be coursing with electricity as the two were fighting for dominance. With a grunt, Hector pounded his left fist in Shiva's midsection, sending the Psychic-type backwards.

With Ryan's quick thinking, this is gonna be a lot harder than I thought.

"Get up Shiva! Close distance wi-"

"Thundershock!"

Drake couldn't even get out a command, and Ryan stood across from him with an ear-to-ear grin as Hector cried out, electricity crackling all over his body. Sending his hands forward, a weak lighting bolt was sent at Shiva, and the attack still did a number on him, as the dual-typed Pokemon cried in pain.

"Get in quick with a Quick Attack-Thunder Punch combo!"

Hector didn't hesitate to continue the assault. Immediately after the command, electricity surged around his right fist and sprinted forwards at breakneck speeds, a white trail following. He rammed his fist into the chest of a just-risen Shiva, sending him backwards, but he still stood, growling.

"Bounce back with another Drain Punch! Then follow-up with a Zen Headbutt!"

Shiva shot forward, his face full of emotion, and his right fist had the same brown energy as before. Once reaching the Elekid, he struck him hard in between the eyes, causing blood to drip. The punch dazed Hector, and the attack gave Shiva some energy back. Not letting up, however, his head began to be surrounded by purple energy and he rammed it into the Hector's stomach. At a surprising speed, shot backwards and had landed directly in front of Ryan and struggled to get to his feet.

"Come on, Hector! We need this win! Freeze him with a double Ice Punch!"

Like a zombie rising from the underground, Hector rose to his feet and sprinted forward with two icy fists. He had a bloodthirsty look in his eyes, but that didn't appear to phase either Drake or Shiva. The human-Pokemon duo seemed to be in perfect sync right now, almost acting as a single unit.

"Ice Punch, Shiva!" Drake called out, and the Meditite complied instantaneously, both of his fists shrouding over in ice.

Meeting midfield once more, the two Pokemon punched each other relentlessly. These actions caused both of them to begin to freeze over in multiple places, such as their midsections and even in their faces. But, they weren't easing up even a little bit.

"Take his legs out! Use Low Kick!" Ryan shouted, throwing an arm out.

Before Drake could muster up a counter, Hector kicked Shiva's legs out from under him and he fell to the ground. Not needing a command, the Elekid jumped on top and started reigning down rapid and quick punches that drew blood from Shiva's face. Shiva didn't have the energy to throw Hector off, and as a result, he took the punishment.

Drake, though, did not want to give up here. It was their first battle, and he couldn't afford to take a loss, especially to Ryan, a person he tried to get in front of his entire life.

"Shiva!" he yelled out. "Drain Punch to his sku-"

"End it, Elekid! Thunder Punch!"

The two commands were shouted out almost simultaneously, so it came to a matter of speed. Unfortunately for Drake and Shiva, Hector was much faster, and he sent a electrified fist into the head of the Fighting-type Pokemon.

After the punch connected, Shiva had been knocked out cold, and wasn't getting up anytime soon. As Hector got up and ran back to his trainer, Drake stood still for a few seconds, trying to grasp what had just happened.

I lost…

Ryan approached Drake with a smug smirk on his face and stretched out his hand. Drake didn't say anything as he pulled out the money and gave it to Ryan, who spoke up.

"Well," he started, looking at the loser, dropping the smirk. "That was honestly a good match, probably the toughest one for me to win between us."

"This is the last time, your beating me, just putting that out there," Drake said, glancing over at Shiva, who had been stirring up a little. He would have to take him back to the Pokemon Center later, he decided.

"Whatever you say," Ryan said with a laugh, which was mirrored by Hector. After a few seconds, he continued, "Anyway, Hector and I have to start leaving. Keep in touch?"

"I will, Ryan," Drake said, nodding quickly. He put out his hand for a handshake and said, "See you around?"

"Definitely," Ryan responded, shaking Drake's hand firmly.

With that, the two rookies said their goodbyes and Ryan and Hector left Drake by himself as he walked over to Shiva, who had gotten up to a knee. He looked at Shiva's bloody face and grimaced. By this time, thefew people watching the battle had left and Drake was able to tend to his Pokemon in relative privacy.

"You really took a beating out there, huh?" Drake went down on one knee and Shiva held his head down disappointingly.

I let you down, Drake, he said, shaking his head, not even bothering to look at his trainer.

"Don't say that, Shiva, come on," Drake said, placing a reassuring hand on his Pokemon's shoulder. "You tried your best, and we know what we have to do to beat him next time."

Drake, I had him beat, Shiva said, wiping blood off of his face, as he brought his gaze up to the rookie. All it took was one more move.

Drake shook his head at Shiva, who gave him a confused look. Seeing that, Drake decided to elaborate.

"Yeah, it may have only taken one more move, but Hector was faster, so he was able to hit you right at the end," Drake told Shiva, who sighed. "You know what that means?"

Shiva shook his head, so Drake explained himself to the humanoid Pokemon.

"That means that we have to start working on your speed." Shiva gave him an understanding nod as Drake continued. "If we want to have a bigger chance against Hector, we have to match his speed, so that doesn't happen, okay?"

Whatever it takes to beat him, I'll do it. I can't afford another loss to Hector, Drake, Shiva said, looking at his trainer.

"I know, and I can't either. We have to keep working-harder than everyone else-so we can beat him and get to the top," Drake said rising to his feet, putting out a hand to help Shiva rise to his feet.

Shiva accepted the hand, and he slowly rose back up to a standing base.

"Now let's get you back to the center, alright?" Drake asked and Shiva nodded.

The duo began to walk off the field, talking amongst each other. One thing still stood, though. They would have to train and grind, excessively in order to beat Ryan and Hector. If they had to train endlessly, they would.

Mount Ultimus was the highest point of the Variis region, and its unpredictable climates throughout the year had league officials labeling it dangerous for trainers of any level traveling it. However, that didn't stop two figures-a black-haired woman and a towering twelve foot tall Tyranitar-from standing at its peak. Snow was falling fast around them, despite it being close to summer. The woman wore multiple layers of clothes, but still appeared unfazed by the cold. Much like her trainer, the Tyranitar was completely unbothered by the temperature.

"Irvin," the woman started. "Do you feel his presence?"

The gigantic Dark-type turned to her trainer and nodded her head. After the nod, the winds had begun to grow stronger, causing the woman to step backwards, but the Tyranitar remained still. He wasn't even affected by the winds or the snow falling faster and harder.

Seconds later, a third figure had took form directly in front of them, slightly hovering above the ground. It was a white humanoid Pokemon that stood at roughly six feet tall and had a large purple tail that almost reached the ground. His eyes were closed but they shot open almost seconds after, revealing a pair of purple eyes.

Patricia Spears, he greeted telepathically. The mental voice had a cold tone, but that didn't startle her whatsoever. You must be wondering why I called you here.

"Yes, Mewtwo, I'm rather curious," the woman told the Psychic-type, who stood with a emotionless stare. "Why did you call me up here?" she asked.

I need to address something to you, as I feel you are the only human capable of handling this situation, Mewtwo spoke, his voice still void of emotion.

Around them, the snow was still falling hard, and the winds were still intense. However, no one looked daunted by it whatsoever as Patricia began to respond to Mewtwo's statement.

"Mewtwo," she started, looking at the Genetic Pokemon. "What kind of situation are we dealing with?" Patricia asked warily. She had a bad feeling about what he was going to say.

To begin with, I had a vision, a rather… disturbing vision. I have never seen anything like it, Mewtwo told Patricia, who looked taken aback by this.

Mewtwo is never disturbed by anything, she observed, rattled. What could this vision possibly be?

"What was your vision, Mewtwo?" she soon asked, causing the cloned Pokemon to continue.

It was a vision of complete destruction, he started, his face still remaining emotionless. I do not know who caused it, but the world as we know it was broken, life being completely devoid, and whatever was left in complete, endless anarchy. He took a deep breath before he continued on. Watching over it all, too, was a silhouette of a man and a Pokemon that I did not recognize. He took a pause, trying to recall any other events, but shook his head. Sadly, though, that is all I remember.

By the time Mewtwo had finished, Patricia was at a loss of words and took a few steps backwards. Irvin looked at his trainer, and turned to Mewtwo's inexpressive face, and growled. Mewtwo didn't even bother to pay attention to Irvin. Instead, his attention remained at Patricia and waited for a response.

"Are you sure this is what you saw?" she asked, causing Mewtwo to give her a look in disbelief.

Are you doubting what I am saying, human?

After he said this, he glared and the winds picked up even more, making Patricia to shield her face from the fast, white snow falling rapidly. Irvin still stood tall, though, looking at Mewtwo. It looked like he wasn't planning on moving anytime soon.

"N-no, I'm not doubting what you're saying, Mewtwo," Patricia spoke. When she responded, the speed of the winds and snow fell down a little, so she dropped her hands and looked back at Mewtwo with a sigh of relief. "I just want to make sure that this is what I will be dealing with."

Mewtwo didn't respond to that, but instead, started at Patricia, his glare gone.

"Am I expected to take care of this alone?" she asked, to which Mewtwo gave her a nod.

For the most part, he said. Patricia gave him an understanding nod, promoting Mewtwo to continue. However, if you desire to call upon some of your powerful allies, I am allowing you to.

Patricia gave Mewtwo another quick, but understanding, nod. He awaited for her to say something else, and seeing that she didn't open her mouth, Mewtwo prepared to abruptly leave, but Patricia opened her mouth at the last possible second.

"Do you have any places where I can start?" she asked.

Mewtwo didn't respond immediately as he appeared to be in deep thought, but he soon gave her an answer.

I do not know where you can start, Mewtwo said. His response put a frustrated look on Patricia's face, but he continued nonetheless. However, I can provide a suggestion, Patricia, that can lead you somewhere of interest. I suggest that you research what could bring such widespread destruction. I have heard rumors in other regions of several other legendary Pokemon that could be capable of this level of destruction.

Patricia gave Mewtwo another nod, and the Psychic-type soon prepared to leave. Although, this time, he wasn't going to leave abruptly.

I wish you the best of luck in these endeavors, Patricia. His purple eyes began to glow a bright green and Mewtwo prepared to teleport away. With that, I must take my leave.

Within milliseconds, Mewtwo was gone. The snow and will were still going at the same speed, despite him leaving-although the two were not appearing to be affected by it. Looking at her Tyranitar, though, Patricia opened her mouth.

"Irvin, looks like we have a lot of work to get to," she said. Irvin gave her a curious look and Patricia told him simply, "You'll find out soon enough."

As the duo walked back towards the entrance to Mount Ultimus' cave systems, Patricia let out an unnoticed sigh, as multiple Golbat flew away from them, obviously terrified by the massive Dark-type.

Still, though, what could possibly leave to this kind of destruction?

That thought alone racked her brain, and she couldn't find an immediate answer. Because of this, she decided on following Mewtwo's suggestion.

I figure that I should start with the legendary Pokemon and go down from there.

The duo continued to walk forward, and Patricia shook her head. Due to the amount of times Mewtwo requested her to do something, it had gotten very tedious.

"I just want to bring an end to this quick," Patricia said to herself, but not unnoticed by Irvin, who glanced at his trainer. She looked up at the Tyranitar and gave him a reassuring smile. "Don't worry, it's nothing our team can't handle."

Irvin gave his trainer a skeptical look, but nodded at her, with acknowledgement, before looking back at the cave system ahead of them.

We've been here before, she thought. We're not going to let whatever is going to happen deter us.

As Patricia thought about this continuously, the duo continued to walk through Mount Ultimus' caves with a purpose. They needed to start immediately on researching. Patricia had hoped that would give her some kind of lead on where to go to.

Seconds later, Patricia came to a sudden stop, and a smirk had surfaced on her face as she opened her mouth to speak.

"This is just a theory, but with whatever Pokemon that can cause this amount of destruction, there has to be another one that could rival it equally!" she exclaimed, satisfied with what she thought.

Patricia looked at her Pokemon, who had appeared very confused as Mewtwo hadn't informed him of what was happening, with the same grin and sprinted forwards. Irvin watched his trainer spring forward and he shook his head, with a sigh that shook the ground.

However, despite the apparent excitement Patricia had been showing, she knew that this was going to get difficult. Mewtwo never assigned her easy missions. It was only a matter of when things were going to start picking up. For now, though, she had one simple task.
