"Sans! Wake up you lazy bones!" Startled, the two lying in bed fell into the floor. One was a skeleton; short and kinda looking chubby. The other was a fish like creature with sharp teeth, short, white hair, and light blue skin. The two looked at each other, same coloured blushes on their faces, before laughing and getting dressed for the day.
The morning routine was usual, the fish getting her clothes from one of the skeleton's drawers. She dressed in one side of the room, facing the other way, while the skeleton did the same on his side of the room.
The cheerful atmosphere around the fish began to fade as she remembered why she had came to the skeleton's house in the first place. Last night she had had a nightmare at her house-her sister had finally kicked her out-and was about to stay up watching late night MTT shows when the skeleton showed up. It turns out they had similar dreams, dreaming of a human killing them both. After having made sure she was okay, the skeleton offered her a place at his house. And thus, they both slept in the same bed, like they used to do when they were younger.
Seeing the skeleton alive and ready for the day, the fish let her emotions calm. Everything was okay, and no one had died. There hadn't been humans here since she was a child, so why would one come now? However, that did little to ease her mind, but pushed it away as they made their way downstairs to where the skeleton's brother was just finished making pasta.
"Sans!" The taller skeleton exclaimed.
"Yeah, bro?" Sans replied, lazily sinking into the couch.
"You did not tell me you would have Ada over!" He continued. "Or else I would've made more spaghetti!"
"I'm fine, Papyrus." Ada smiled, sitting down next to the older skeleton. "Besides, I Ada lot for breakfast." That, of course, was a lie, but it was nice to tease him whenever she could.
Papyrus's face clearly showed irritation. "Sans! You're rubbing off on her!"
Sans shrugged. "Sorry, bro. I can't help it if it gets under your skin."
"Ugh!" The younger all but growled, storming out of the house. Ada stood, making sure the burners were off, before standing in front of Sans.
"Are you ready to go to work?" She asked, fully aware of what he was going to say next.
"Usually I'd say no, but I have a feeling something'll happen today." Slowly, he stood.
Ada blinked, but smiled anyways. "Alright, let's go."
And after stepping into Grillby's for a to-go burg and fries, they were waiting at Sans' post. Minutes past, and Ada was already shivering. Before she could ask, Sans handed her his coat with that never fading grin. They held hands, lazing on a bench that had been put there a while back.
Their relationship was a bit complex. While the two were definitely more than friends, neither one would exactly call it dating. They never kissed or did anything more than hug and cuddle. While it was great and all, both wanted more but neither knew how to ask. Thus, they left it as it was and continued on as if they didn't see the knowing looks people around Snowdin and Hotlands gave them.
And so, the two watched the snowfall around them, believing that today would be like every other day.
