Torrid Affair
Alice was horrified.
She was terrified.
Tutoring Bellatrix Black on how to cast a Patronus was quite possibly the worst punishment the Defence Professor could have given her, and she hadn't even done anything wrong to deserve a punishment.
She'd tried to get out of it to no avail, and the predatory smirk on Bella's face when they saw each other that evening at dinner was enough to send shivers of fear up Alice's spine.
She was actually going to die.
…
Bellatrix was waiting for her when she arrived in the classroom. She was twirling her wand between her fingers, her gaze locking on Alice the moment she entered the room.
"Just so you know, I've told people we're having a torrid affair."
Alice blinked. "Why on earth would you do that?"
Bellatrix snorted. "Better that than admitting I'm being forced into tutoring."
…
Week after week they met, and week after week, Bellatrix failed to grasp the Patronus. She got as far as a weak silver mist and then the spell failed, leaving nothing but frustration in its wake.
"I can't do this," Bellatrix snapped. "The Patronus was meant for light led magic. I was not."
"Everyone has the capability to cast any spell," Alice retorted quietly. "It's about the effort that you put into learning it. Try a happier memory."
"I have no happier memories," Bellatrix uttered, glaring at Alice before she stormed from the room.
…
Their lips met in a fierce battle for domination.
Alice, after initial shock of the attack, gave as good as she got, her hand sliding into the perfectly styled mess of black locks, her other hand gripping Bella's robes.
Bellatrix let her hands slide around Alice's waist, holding her closely, holding her tightly enough that Alice was sure she would see bruises that night when she looked in the mirror.
Losing track of time, Alice jumped when the alert for curfew sounded on her watch. They separated slowly, Alice rubbing at her kiss sore lips.
Bellatrix smiled at her, slowly, sensually. "Perhaps next time, I'll have a happy enough memory to cast a real Patronus.
…
The fox ambled around Bellatrix' legs, and Alice was taken aback when she saw a real smile grace Bellatrix' lips. It made such a difference to her whole face. It lit her up, made her look younger, more innocent.
She moved forward, her body moving without her permission, and kissed that smile gently, a perfect contrast to the harshness of their first kiss. Bellatrix allowed it for a moment before she pulled away.
"Didn't you know, Alice? Torrid affairs don't get happy endings."
…
Alice stared at the wand in Bellatrix's hand. She saw the hesitation. That didn't make the pain easier to handle when the Cruciatus curse struck her in the center of her chest.
