Lily Potter was hanging out with her cousin Hugo when a snowball hit her in the face. She glanced over at her assailant it was her brother's best friend Scorpius Malfoy. They had already gotten off on the wrong foot earlier this year.
"You okay, Lils?" Hugo asked.
"I was hit by a snowball in the face how do you think I am."
He wasn't taken aback by his cousin's reaction since he was used to it.
"I'm going to to the Hospital Wing to get it checked out."
Hugo nodded and said. "I'll catch up with you later, Lily."
"Alright."
The two cousins parted ways. Lily walked towards the Hospital Wing.
"Hello Miss Potter."
"Hi Madame Pompfrey."
"What happened to your eye?"
"I was hit in the face by a snowball."
She nodded and instructed her to sit down. She sat down on the nearest bed. The matron began fussing over her. She winced at the coldness of the ice. She sat there icing her eye until dinner which was when she was released.
A few days later Ginny received a letter from Lily telling her about her happened.
"So, how is Lily?" Hermione asked.
"She's doing good, she was hit in the face with a snowball by Scorpius Malfoy."
"A snowball in the face is surely the perfect beginning to a lasting friendship," Hermione quoted.
Ginny looked confused at the reference.
"It's a quote from a muggle American book I read almost a decade ago called 'The Book Thief."
Ginny nodded.
It was a few days later Lily was walking out of Charms when Scorpius walked up to her.
"Malfoy," she greeted.
"Potter."
"Are you here to apologize?"
Scorpius nodded and said. "I'm sorry for hitting you in the face with a snowball awhile ago."
Lily was silent for a few seconds and said. "I suppose I forgive you."
Scorpius stuck out his hand and said. "Friends?"
"Friends."
