A brief glimpse into Niko and Crane's new relationship. Written for Goldenlake's One Sentence Weekend: Peculiar Pairings Edition and Goldenlake's 2012 Decathlon.

1. Mages Squared I OSW

Goldenlake's OSW: Niko/Crane

I.

When Tris first heard about Niko and Crane she was shocked, then amused, as she realized they would have the politest, cleanest relationship ever.

II.

If you had asked Niko about it a month ago, he would have said that living in a greenhouse was strange and he would never even consider it; if you asked him now, he would say that a person can get used to anything – given the right incentive.

III.

For the first time in his life, Crane felt like he was in an adult relationship with someone he didn't have to clean up after – if anything, Niko was cleaning up after him.

IV.

Niko had often thought he should be taller (to pull of the tall imposing mage look), but he found he didn't mind looking up to Crane.

V.

Crane had always loved his Dedicate's robe and the status they brought him, but he was starting to discover that they were unwieldy in certain situations.
