The hat was placed on my head, obscuring my vision.

I waited for what seemed like an eternity

with every single eye in the great hall upon me.

I did not know that if they were curious

just wanted the feast to start.

But anyways, I just sat there, waiting as the seconds ticked by.

The voice surprised me so much that I almost fell down the stool

But what it said flooded me with joy.

"Slytherin!"

There was an applaud from the Slytherin table

and I walked over, uncertain, but happy.

I had became the first muggle-born in Slytherin.

It appeared that none of my fellow Slytherins know that I'm a muggle-born.

Fine by me.

I worked hard, got to the lessons just on time, all the while

marveling this whole new society

proud of how special I am

to be chosen from among the muggles.

I did not have any friends

Which was also fine.

I can usually be found in the library, common room or by the lake

where I often snuck out to fly.

I just loved the sensation

of cool, fresh air rushing against me

as I defy gravity and

lift into the air with joy

like a lone eagle

soaring in the sky.

The first year went by surprisingly fast.

But it was actually kind of boring.

I was expecting something more exciting, more extraordinary.

I had no idea, though, what was about to approach me.
