Before they could call out to Sphene, someone came up to them.
"Oh, you're awake," They said. This Gem had brown and yellow hair, with a coat over their uniform. Who were they? "You just relax, I'll get Yellow."
Yellow? Yellow is okay? They laid back with a sigh of relief. Good.
The last thing they remembered is fighting the Lunarians. They told Yellow to run and get Sensei while they held them back… They don't remembered what happened after that.
But what's going on?
They heard footsteps, and looked to see who it is. It was the Gem with the coat.
And Yellow.
"Yellow? Who…" They were interrupted when Yellow ran up and hugged them.
"Careful! I just put them back together!"
Yellow laughed and let go of them, but still kept a hand on their shoulder. "Sorry. It's just…" Their hand on their cheek. "Green, it's been so long… I thought you were gone. Forever."
"Gone? What do you mean by that? I- Who is that?" Green Diamond pointed to the Gem with the coat. "How… How long was I out?"
The unknown Gem spoke up, "Green Diamond… You've been gone for almost three thousand years.
What?
"By the time I came back with help…" Yellow wasn't looking at them, eyes focused on the floor. "... They took you, Green. You were on the moon the whole time."
The Moon… ?
"I'm so sorry…" Yellow's voice was full of regret. Green took their hand and ever so gently squeezed.
"I'm here now, aren't I?" They gave Yellow a gentle smile before looking around. "Uh, is Sensei around?"
"Yeah..." said Yellow. "I'll take you to them." Helping them off the table, Yellow and the other Gem walked with them to see Sensei for the first time in almost three thousand years.
It was a lot to take in.
Green Diamond had seen Sensei to catch them up on what happened during their absence. They had gotten a hug from them while Sensei explained
They had lost so many others… Ruby, Sapphire, Topaz… They were still on the Moon. Along with other Gems that were born long after Green's kidnapping.
They were lucky to get back enough shards to revive them, but some parts had to be filled in with replacements.
Green mulled over this as they watched the morning assembly.
So many new Gems born in their absence with Rutile, the Gem with the coat, in the back of the crowd. Sensei had another one, Jade, give out the patrol routes and battle formations.
"Before you leave, I would to introduce, or reintroduce for some," Sensei motioned to a few of the elders in the crowd. "Green Diamond."
That was their cue.
Green Diamond walked out from behind a pillar, everyone, except for Yellow and Rutile, had looks of surprise and wonder on their faces.
"Hello." was their greeting. With a small gesture, Sensei got everyone's attention.
"Green Diamond, as you all may know, was Yellow Diamond's first partner. And the first to be taken to the moon." Sensei motioned to Rutile in the back. Rutile moved up to the war table to speak.
"When Bortz and Zircon fought a New Model yesterday, shards of them were recovered and we finally had enough to attempt revival." Rutile said looking over to Green.
"As you can see, it was successful. For the next couple of days, Green Diamond will be resting until they're fully caught up with what happened in their absence. Please help make them feel welcome again."
"Does anyone have questions?" Sensei asked. No one said anything. "If that is all, then head out to your stations."
As the crowd slowly broke up, Yellow walked up to Green. "How are you feeling?"
Green sighed. "Okay, I guess. Everything is still so confusing though."
Yellow put their arm around Green's shoulder. "Don't worry, it'll be fine. Come on, I'll show you around. See what's changed and whatnot."
Green smiled. "Sure, let's do that."
So many things changed, but Green feels like everything will alright with Yellow around.
