(-edit- Couples have been decided! :D Tyler's my main dude of interest in here so... But I would like to think it's different. More in profile. :D)

Alright. So I definitely have other stories that need to be finished and I really have no business posting this one until it's finished either. But if I don't post it now, I'll never post it. So this is my test chapter and my first time writing in first person point of view. Jasmine is, by far, my favorite original female character that I have ever done and I'm proud of her. She's fun to write, at any rate. I have no idea when I will post the rest, seeing as to how I should be doing my PY, ECE, PSY and CSC homework right now, but work with me here. (insert smiley here. Haaaaaa.)

OH! One more thing: if anyone sees this story anywhere but on this website, it is not me and I would appreciate it if you told me. I've seen some really crappy stories get plagiarized before and I've seen some amazing ones get plagiarized. I don't think I'm an "all-mighty, awesome author" or anything, I just worked really hard on this and I don't want to experience seeing it stolen. So... enjoy!

Disclaimer: I do own Jasmine, Jean, and Jenny (I just realized they all have 'J' names... Dang). I don't own The Covenant and I'm not making any profit off of this story in any manner.

Introduction.

I thought that today would be a pretty normal day. You know—I go to class, possibly fall asleep in history or math or whatever. And then I would go back to my room and do nothing. Or at least something along those lines… But quite honestly, there's always a little something that makes things different. Like a pop quiz or a new kid in class or something.

But this time, there is not one, but three bumps in my usual day, not even close to being along the same lines of a pop quiz. How the hell the provost was able to handle three bad announcements before the say even started was beyond me.

… But then again, it might be because he didn't have to say anything.

Announcement one: Pogue Perry is in the hospital—accident on his motorcycle. His girlfriend, Kate Tunney, is in the hospital as well (that's announcement two, by the way). Quite honestly, that was old news. People were, apparently, gossiping about it during Fall Fest (or so my roommate told me. She is quite the gossip queen). Rumors were that Pogue and Kate's relationship was on the rocks (it's always on the rocks, if you ask me); that Pogue hit Kate and that was why she was in the hospital (I doubt that and I don't even know the guy. Everyone knows that she's got him whipped); and can't forget the most ridiculous one: that the government was trying to take the Sons of Ipswich down and Pogue was the first to go (and somehow Kate's hospitalization is connected… right…).

So… yeah. The third announcement was the one that was new to me—and I'm pretty sure it was new to everyone else.

Chase Collins died. The night of Friday Fest, my roommate, Jean, had come back complaining about how Chase and Caleb weren't at Fall Fest to be her eye candy or something, how Tyler and Reid apparently disappeared soon after. But who would think that not being at Fall Fest would equal death? If it didn't come out of my teacher's mouth, I would have thought that it was a really bad rumor.

He died in a barn that caught fire. Putnam Barn, I think; an old historical place from way back during the colonies. Anyway, that's all that our teacher told us. The thing that I would like to know is what the HELL was he doing in a barn? That's not anywhere near anyone's usual hangouts. I'm pretty sure there's an old myth about that farm being cursed or something.

Shaking my head, I glance around the room and try to gauge my classmate's reactions.

Jean looks pretty much beyond shocked. In being her roommate, I've learned that she is actually a very emotional person. So I wasn't surprised that she had tears in her eyes. Her friends looked just as shocked as her (and I'm pretty sure they are just as emotional). Straight across from me was the new girl, the one who was hanging around the Sons a lot. Her name is either Cara or Sarah; I don't remember. She actually looked rather pale at the news. Kate's usual seat next to her was empty. The three sons who are actually in class today seem… rather indifferent about it.

Which I find odd. I mean… I'm not in with anyone who talks with the Sons of Ipswich, but it's not hard to keep tabs on them seeing as to how they're the 'it' guys on campus. You know you're the 'it' people when even I know who people are talking about. Chase, who seemed like a pretty nice guy if you were to ask for my opinion, seemed to have been pretty accepted by that group. I mean, they were generally nice guys to everyone when they had to be, but it was almost odd how quickly they accepted him.

Honestly, I kind of felt bad for him. Chase, I mean. When people have been at school for a while, it's like everyone mourns for them. The town, the teachers, the school... Chase just moved here and no one knew who he was, really.

Who would want to die alone? Die alone and be forgotten?

Alright, party people. That's my first chapter. Love it or hate it. (Okay... I just kind of scanned it... It could be a, like... a kind of one-shot from a classmate's POV, but it's totally going to be a multi-chapter fic.) I wanted to try something new (more so for me. I don't think this particular type of fanfic is new for this section, but if it is... Yay. Lol) and this is what I got. Read and review. Flames accepted but constructive criticism works best. :D (insert smiley here)
