749. Co-stars in a movie – ft. Bucky Barnes/Steve Rogers, + Susan Storm & Luis

Bucky frowned as he read the last of the script. JOHANSSEN is holding a newborn baby, with BECK by her side. That would be his last scene? With Susan? He wasn't in a Jacuzzi-tub somewhere drinking beer, or even on the next flight to Mars with Luis' character, Martinez?

"What's the matter, Buck?" Steve questioned as he sat down beside him, handing him a bowl with apple pie and custard. He took it, shutting the script-book closed and tucking it to his side. "Something nagging you about your character?"

Bucky shrugged, digging into his apple pie. "This tastes like strudel."

"No it doesn't. It tastes like pie – and I can tell when you're trying to change the subject."

Bucky shook his head, "Can't talk about it. Now put the movie on." He motioned to the TV, frustrated by both the fact he couldn't talk about it, and the fact that he and 'Johanssen' would have a baby at the end of everything. Steve wants a kid. What will he do when he sees me at the end with a baby? Maybe he shouldn't have taken the job.

Later, when the movie was finished, he got a call from Susan. "Hey."

"Hey. Finished the script?" He questioned, watching Steve's ass as he washed dishes.

"Yeah. You?"

"I got to our last scene."

"Sorry about all this," she replied tiredly, "I know you and the Captain are together – it must be difficult for you to play these kind of roles."

Bucky shrugged again, looking to the ceiling, "Well, cis white het directors are known for their abilities to represent absolutely zero percent of any faction of my kind. Thank god we don't actually-" he cut himself off abruptly, mindful of the fact that Steve was less than twenty feet away.

"Someone there?"

"Steve-o himself – Steve, say hi to Susan!"

Steve turned, smiling at the phone that Bucky had held up and out, so Susan could hear him calling, "Morning, Miss Storm."

"Hey Cap!" She replied in a loud voice. Bucky gave a slight smile to his partner, before bringing it back to his ear.

"You coming to the reading next Friday?"

"Maybe. Reed is adamant on going on a date, but that means our date is in three months time rather than this Friday, so…probably, rather than maybe. You?"

"I'll try," Bucky swallowed, before making a decision. "I've gotta go. I think it's time Steve and I had a little talk about something he mentioned a couple weeks ago. Bye." He saw Steve pause, hand freezing above the bubbles as Susan said her goodbyes. Hanging up, Bucky stood, going over and peering in the sink.

"I see more dishes in your future."

"And kids?"

Bucky glanced back at the script for The Martian on their sofa, thinking to that tiny end-scene he would have to share with Susan.

"Kids too, provided you do the laundry this week."

"I do it every week." Steve laughed, sounding choked up.

Bucky shrugged.

"Whatever."
