He smiled as he carefully constructed the thin layer of cream at the top into a cute, little phrase followed by a heart, 'Will you go out with me, Lovi?'
He smiled giddily at the thought of the other student seeing his sweet, little message until the thought occurred to him that 'Lovi' might say, 'No,' or not like the smallest amount of sweetness added to his regular coffee; Antonio had made sure to only add the smallest amount possible to convey his message to the other, so as to not really affect the taste all that much.
Antonio gave himself a nervous, little smile as he walked to the countertop again to finally hand Lovino the coffee he ordered.
"Thanks." Lovino took it, paid, and went to sit down at his usual table and pull out his textbooks before he noticed the little phrase and heart.
The strangest thing happened within the next instant: his face went cherry red and he sputtered, looking lost for a second.
Lovino stood up and walked back to the counter, textbooks forgotten.
"What is this?" He pushed his cup onto the counter, face still cherry tomato red and looked very exasperated.
"It's my confession." Antonio stared at the cute words and tiny heart.
"You confessed on my coffee?" Lovino grumbled.
"Yeah?" Antonio murmured; as a barista, how else was he supposed to confess?
"I don't like cream." He grumbled, watching Antonio.
"Oh, I know that, but how else was I supposed to write it?" Antonio answered, happily.
"You could have said it." Lovino answered him easily enough.
"But that isn't as fun." Antonio pouted as he stared into Lovi's eyes.
"Yes, but you'd get an answer faster." Lovino doubted that Antonio'd listen.
"Okay, so what's your answer then?" It was so quick and playful that Lovi didn't know what to say for a second.
"Yes, I would have told you, yes." Lovi shrugged, face red as could be; color returning fast.
"I'm so happy." Antonio leaned over the counter as if to hug his favorite customer though could only weakly offer a hard shake.
"I didn't answer the cream message." His face bloomed red, "And stop making a fool out of yourself." Lovino finished.
"How about tomorrow after work?" Antonio asked anyway.
"Sure, but you're buying, and I need another cup of coffee." Lovino went from confident to almost shy in an instant as he finished speaking.
"Sure, coming right up." Antonio beamed as he remade his new boyfriend's cup of coffee this time without cream even though he saw Lovi drink the creamed coffee sneakily from the other side of the counter.
