"Hi." He snaps up from the pile of paperwork on his desk his eyes falling onto her as she stood nervously at the door.
"Hi." He returns finding his heart pounding. He wants to say more, do more, but finds this is all he can manage. She seems to have the same struggle keeping her at a standstill.
"Things good?" The passage of time if any at all he couldn't speak of that either. Just grateful she had the strength to break it.
"Yeah for the most part. And how are you Abby?" She shrugs. He received updates from Jackson among others on the answer to that question. But he still asks. Wants to hear her voice.
"I'm alive thanks to you Marcus." He is unable to tell if that was a sincere thanks or even if after all these months she still had not forgiven him for going against her wishes.
"We need you Abby." He has the strongest urge to replace the we with I. Of that he knew she wasn't ready for. Perhaps never.
"Well I am going to get going." The atmosphere turns awkward again and they find themselves struggling internally for the next move. For various reasons.
"It was good to see you Abby."
"Yeah you too Marcus." She gives a half smile the first directed towards him since primafaya. Before he can return it she's walked away. He turns back to the paperwork his heart pounding with a joy he thought he had killed when he saved her.
