Dino Fight
The alarm clock beeped loudly. Birdo flopped over in her bed and touched the clock, stopping it's noise. The dinosaur sat up in her bed and stretched.
"I really need to get a new alarm clock," she said to herself. She blinked her eyes and climbed out of her bed.
Birdo walked over to the kitchen and began to cook herself some eggs. She silently chewed on her breakfast until she heard a knock on the door.
"Oh, I better go get that," she stood up and walked quickly to the door. She was surprised to see who was behind it.
"Hello, Birdo," the green dinosaur greeted her.
"Yoshi? It's been a long time. Come on in." She led her friend to the kitchen table and gave him a plate of eggs. Birdo always had mixed thoughts about Yoshi. She thought he was a good friend, and had a small crush on him, but at the same time thought he was a little annoying.
"So, what brings you here?" Birdo asked him as they munched on thier food.
"There's a fighting tournament coming up. It's a tournament where people from all different worlds fight each other for the title of the greatest fighter in the universe." Yoshi explained.
"You mean Super Smash Bros?" Birdo asked. "I know all about it. It was on the news."
"Exactly. Well, I'm going to the tournament for the third time this year. The person who issued the invitations told us to bring any guests we want."
"Are you saying you want me to enter a fighting tournament? Oh, please, Yoshi. I'm not some violent savage. No offense." Birdo declined his invitation.
"Oh, come on. It'll be fun! There's a lot of great fighters that enter every year." Yoshi attempted to persuade her.
"No. I already told you, I'm not a savage."
"Are you saying Princess Toadstool is a savage?"
"She is entering the tournament?"
"Yep. She was in it last year, too." Yoshi took another bite of his eggs.
"Well, that's surprising. But even if I wanted to enter, how could a little dinosaur like me survive in a fighting tournament?" Birdo asked.
"I think you're strong enough."
"And what, may I ask, gives you that idea?"
"Well... you're pretty good at golf."
"Notice how golf is a non-contact sport?"
"Birdo, just enter the tournament!" Yoshi yelled.
"Okay. Maybe I'll come along and watch. Maybe." Birdo compromised.
"Okay then. The deadline to sign up is tomorrow. We'll have to leave in the early morning." Yoshi said.
"Okay. Would you like to stay here tonight?" Birdo invited him.
"Sure. Thanks for letting me."
"Okay. I have an extra sleeping bag you can use."

It was now nighttime. Yoshi lay down on the couch, staring at the blank TV screen. He heard Birdo's footsteps behind him.
"Goodnight, Yoshi." she called out to him.
"Goodnight." Yoshi called back, and was replied to by the closing of Birdo's door.
"Tomorrow's the big day." Yoshi said to himself. He turned off the light and went to sleep.
Okay, yeah. I really hope that didn't suck.
