The short stout figure of Virman Vundabar marched down the metallic passageway to the central control centre. Vundabar took a seat overlooking the monitors that displayed each and every room of Alpha Base. Alpha Base was the operational base of the forces of Apokalips and Lord Darkseid on Earth. It served as a scouting outpost but soon it would be much more, the capital city of the planet during the Age of Darkseid. Several Parademons stood on guard beside Vundabar as he relaxed, but his peace was soon disturbed by a humanoid lieutenant of the Earth-Based forces. A tall, handsome man, Aleksis was the opposite in appearance to Vundabar and the contrast between the two of them would have been amusing to any watching that had brains more advanced than those of the Parademons, especially since Aleksis was completely subservient to Vundabar.
"The assassin has arrived, Commander," Aleksis reported. Vundabar nodded, adjusting his monocle and gestured for him to be shown in. The muscular confident form of Slade Wilson, known in the trade as Deathstroke the Terminator, made itself apparent. Fully armoured already, Deathstroke was an imposing figure and even Vundabar lost his confidence for a moment.
"I trust the payment will be enough for you to complete the job, Terminator," Vundabar recovered standing up to assert his authority, although it had little effect due to his diminutive stature.
"It's satisfactory," Deathstroke spoke calmly in a low gravelly voice. "I'll need weapons, and details on the target."
Vundabar nodded having expected this, "You have full access to our armoury," he confirmed and then tossed him a small, circular and futuristic device that when it landed in Deathstroke's palm ejected a small beam of blue light that expanded to form the 3D figure of a blue-armoured man, carrying a small but effective gun, with white invading his otherwise black hair and an eye patch to cover the socket where he lost an eye in war years ago.
"This contains all the information you need on your target. Do not disappoint Deathstroke. I was informed you are the best of the best. Kill Nick Fury..."
