This Story is set when Jeanette and Simon are in 6th grade about 1 year before her middle school transformation and about 3 years before being a sophomore which is when her big change happens.
Jeanette sat on the stoop in front of Ms. Miller's house dangling her feet. She was counting pebbles and watching the sunset. When Jeanette looked up the setting sun shone tears glistening in her eyes. Simon had been reading a book in the window sidle. He was also looking out the window at the sunset. His eyes then drifted down to a girl in a purple dress and black shiny Mary Jane's. Hey hair was in a messy bun with a dark purple ribbon. When she cocked her head to the side Simon could see her purple glasses and he knew who it was. He set his book down and marked the page and made his way to the door walking across the street. Jeanette sniffled a little and continued to count her pebbles. She didn't notice Simon coming over so when he did sit down next to her she jumped a little. "Jeanie what are you doing out here I thought you were going with Charles Bass to that Spring Fling dance?" Jeanette still looking down replied "I just couldn't tell my sisters or anybody that he dumped me yesterday". Simon wiped her tears and gave her a hug. "You know what I have an idea…How about we have our very own spring fling it'll be a thousand times better than that thing at the school". That made Jeanie smile and she nodded her head in in agreement. In Jeanette's backyard they set up chairs and a couple of tables. Set some streamers and got a boom box for music. Jeanette dried her eyes and fixed herself. Simon went to get in some dressy clothes and returned. It was a scene of beauty especially with Jeanette standing in the middle. At the time Simon only thought of Jeanette as strictly his friend. They danced and talked and were having the best of times when then a slow song came on. Simon playfully stuck out his arm "Madame may I have this dance?" Jeanette snickered and looped her arm in his "Well yes you may Sir Simon". Simon held his hands on her upper back while her arms were behind his neck. They were doing a simple two step to a simple song. Jeanette simply uttered the words "Thank you" then rested her head in the crook of his shoulder. That simple gesture ignited feeling in them both that neither would understand into later on. That was also the time when the Chipettes and Chipmunks annual spring flings began. When the other children returned home from there already busy night they wanted more so they set up the music again and started to dance more. The music attracted more and more children. Someone brought food and thus a tradition was born. Two things started that night; A party that no one would forget and a relationship to come for the ages.
Just a little short story I did that I thought would cure my writers block. Didnt work but it was still fun writing :)
