Gun Shot Residue

What we see everyday,

Death, dying, other people's dirty deeds;

"What people do to each other never ceases to amaze me."

After what I see everyday I need someone as a friend.

Someone to lean on, a shoulder to cry on

When he made the call, I came running.

Took the next flight out,

Whooshing my old life away.

Now that I am here,

I cannot stop thinking about the man who takes my breath away.

At hockey rinks and amusement parks,

At the lab and in the air,

In his presence I cannot help but stare

Into the eyes of a man who stole my heart

While I sit at home all alone

I can't help but think,

When will he ever figure out "what to do about this."

Day in and day out, we work side by side.

The awkward moments and the weird tension,

He leaves me wondering

Do his lines have a hidden meaning

That he has yet to mention?

One day the dam holding my deepest darkest secrets broke,

He was there for me,

When the tears I tried to hold back poured like rain.

His hand in mine helped me deal with the pain.

As days go on I am still here

Maybe he will realize that he is still not "too late."

The man who I devoted six years of my life to,

Yearning to be loved

Maybe tomorrow will be the day

He cracks his turtle shell.

Six years later, this man still mesmerizes me

Like the wings of the butterfly.

Although these wings are fragile,

They support the flight of such a wonderful creature,

That is as wonderful as the man I love.
